Strengths: No false alarms. GPS location feature allows programming out of non-radar activated warning areas and reminders of speed trap areas before you get there.
Weaknesses: Have to install in front windshield area
Summary: The Escort Passport 9500i Radar Detector with GPS was very easy to install in my car. I bought the direct wire accessory hookup as I wanted to keep my cigarette lighter free. The best thing about this Passport is the lack of false alarms you get due to being able to program out any false alarm areas (such as door openers in stores). The detector gives you both audible and visual warnings and automatically increases the audio volume level of an alert in accordance with the noise level in the car. This is by far the best radar detector I have ever owned. The only weakness for me is the fact that it must be mounted in the front windshield area of the car, but the unit is sleek and not real big so it's not a big deal. My previous detectors ( Bel brand) have been virtually concealed in my cars. I rate this product very highly. If you can afford it, look no further.

Strengths: Good range on K and Ka band; very few false on X
Weaknesses: GPS false lockout does not work on Ka band; suction cup loses suction after a while; most expensive Passport thus far
Summary: I have owned the 7500 and 8500 x50. Range is significantly improved over the 7500, and false is improved over both models. Also, 9500i does not suffer from false laser detection (had to turn off the laser on 8500 x50). Few points that can be improved are the inability to GPS lockout the Ka band, the suction cup eventually fails (common problem for all Passports), and the warning is not loud enough if you use louder aftermarket radio (but it was loud enough with OEM radio). Overall, this revision of the Passport has many new useful features, although the price tag is tad high.

Strengths: Very functional with GPS location "mute" function. More discerning with false alerts.
Weaknesses: These were the weaknesses of the ESCORT 8500.
Summary: I drove over a familiar route where I receive spurious false alarms with the ESCORT 8500. The ESCORT 9500 did not activate... very nice. Then I went to the usual shopping center where the old ESCORT 8500 always goes ballistic and the ESCORT 9500 did not alarm until much closer; then went ballistic. I tapped the Smart Cord three times and voila! location permanently muted because of the GPS. The cessation of the endless false alarms of the 8500 is priceless icing on the cake for me. I have hit the mute button on the ESCORT 8500 Smart Cord thousands of times at the same chronic locations and those days are over. Silence is mine... For me the peace of mind with ESCORT and my ACTIVE LASER JAMMER system are worth every penny, the result is years and years of being speeding ticket free. I'm not a racer. It is the 10-15 mile over the limit ticket cause I'm not paying attention that sucks. I have used ESCORT's for decades and I will never use another product. They are bulletproof and cutting edge. Yippe-Yi-Ya-Ki-Ya...

Strengths: Style, funtions, technology
Weaknesses: none that I see
Summary: Escort has done a very nice job with the 9500i. They are using cutting edge technology to stand above the competition and we the consumers get to take advantadge of it! It is very easy to use, the GPS technology is very slick and all in all is a great device. I would recommend this to anyone.

Strengths: No false alarms
Weaknesses: None yet
Summary: The Escort 9500i is not the first radar detector I have used. I had another one that seemed to go off every couple of minutes. I think it was actually being set off by garage door openers! I like the Escort, because it seems to have a very low rate of false alarms. It has a Truelock feature that cuts out false signals from GPS, motion detectors etc. I would definitely recommend this radar detector, and will continue to use mine.

Strengths: False signal elemination, PRICE TAG
Weaknesses: They still havn'e developed a jammer
Summary: I have owned many detectors. But, this is the best by far. It allows the user to remove the false singles that all the others will pick up and warn you about. It has great range and great detection capabilities. Just a great unit all around.

Strengths: Excellent range, as good if not better than my V-1 after programming it. Marker is great for camera locations and donut shops
Weaknesses: suction cups to small, bracket to short causing unit to vibrate and fall off from windshield
Summary: used a V-1 for over a year so when I first purchased my esscort i was kind of hesitant about it's affectiveness, but it quicky made me feel at ease. It has excellent range plenty of time to react. With

Strengths: Eliminates false alarms from stores, buildings; can store speed traps; GPS feature
Weaknesses: Very expensive
Summary: This is a very good radar detector. It looks sleek, and it's easy to use right out of the box. It comes with a "cheat sheet" that you can carry in the car for the controls. The GPS feature alerts me to my speed if an alarm goes off. This is a great idea since every alarm takes my attention to the detector rather than the speedometer. I've had the detector for 10 days and it's saved me twice with the police on a bridge overpass, and another where the police came up behind me. The pricetag is high ($462.95 with shipping from Escort), but I get an $80 rebate for my trade-in. I'm very pleased so far.
