Strengths: LED light engine. No spinning wheel. Longer life. No changing bulbs. Great High Def. Outstanding looks. Easy menu. Small footprint for the size. Color/Contrast outstanding.
Weaknesses: Only weakness I could find. I replaced my Pioneer 533HD5 projection with the Samsung HLT5089S. It does not convert 4:3 aspect as well as the Pioneer did. Other that that it is perfect for my needs.
Summary: 2007-11-19 15:34:28 You will not be let down by this television. Most of the brick and mortars are only showing the HLT5087S now. The picture is basically the same. The menu is a little quicker on the 89s. Along with the newer HDMI standard. Also PIP, never really use it.

Only gripe is the 4:3 conversion. I can say I can overlook that with all the other positives I see in this great TV.

Strengths: 3 HDMI connections w/ wide range of connection on side easy acces. LED light engine w/o spinning whell and Longer life. 1080p clear picture. Small footprint for the size. 10,000:1 high Color/Contrast.
Weaknesses: Limited view angle and unable to hang on the wall but these are known for DLP.
Summary: I have to admit I was doubtful for this unit before the purchase. I first had my eye on a LCD tv. After seeing so many positive reviews on this unit with very bargain price ($600 cheaper for the same spec LCD unit), I decided to go for it. As long as you don't plan to hang this unit on the wall and no concerns on limited view angle(wider than 150)which is my case, I strongly recommend this unit. The new Energy-efficient third-generation LED-based DLP® technology offers a picture that's up to 40 percent brighter than lamp-based models w/o spinning wheel, no bulb change and longer life cycle. I compare this unit with my other Panasonic 720p Plasma TV. This unit easily outperfirms Plasma in picture quality and color contrast. I also like its wide range connection options: 3 HDMI, PC, Game and other HDTV appliance make this DLP HDTV a multimedia centerpiece.
