Summary: KitchenAid Superba KUDS01FLSS6
We bought this dishwasher, along with a stove, microwave/range hood combo, front-load washer & dryer, all from KitchenAid. So far, in just over 2 years, we've had a totaly of 15 service calls.
These were ALL top-of-the-line appliances, or at least we thought they were. However, 2008 has brought to us a number of appliance problems. The dishwasher, however, has been a real joy.
It stopped, mid-cycle. Absolutely dead. We wait, no dishwasher, for 4 days until the repairman arrives. Yup, what they suspected, it was the thermo-fuse in the door, at a cost of $110. However, it can die on it's own, or it can happen because another component is failing, we are told. No way to know, it'll either keep working, or it won't. And while he's here, he points out that repairing the cracked plastic over the buttons is going to cost upward of $300. Not including service calls, of course.
The repairs happened on Tuesday. Tonight, Friday, there was a loud noise from the dishwasher door, and now there is no "spring" - the door just drops.
Add in the previous repairs for the control panel, seals, etc, and you have a piece of junk.
KitchenAid used to be known for their reputation as quality appliances. Not any more. Just more junk - very, very expensive junk.
WARNING - DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID APPLIANCES!!!
