Strengths: Wonderful packaging.
Helmet included with stand.
Oh, the game is great too.
Weaknesses: Pricey.
Can't wear the helmet.
Summary: If you're a die-hard Halo fan, this Halo 3 package is for you. After months of waiting, the final chapter of the Halo trilogy is here. Who ever designed this package should be commended for putting together this wonderful packaging. The boxes slipcover, if you haven't accidentally torn off in a hurry to play Halo 3, is a beautiful poster. The inner box itself is adorned with a beautiful scene of the game and itself could be displayed in a die-hard gamers room. When you get to opening the box, after admiring the outside packaging and poster, on top is a clear plastic tray that contains two cases. One case containing the game and another for the bonus material. Under the plastic tray, covered by a Halo 3 dustcover is the coveted Spartan Helmet and stand. It is fully sculpted and about the size of a large baby's head. Included is a stand for helmet that doubles as a holder for the disc cases. After you and your friends are done with the wow factor of opening your Legendary Edition Set, it is time for the Halo 3 mayhem to begin. I won't get into the game too much as there are already tons of Halo 3 game reviews out there. But,the graphics, storyline and gameplay is everything you'd expect Halo to be. The campaign mode is great but we all know that the multi-player mode is what sets Halo apart from all the other games. Up to 16 players can get in on the mayhem in multi-player mode, battling it out in numerous worlds either as a Spartan or Covenant Warrior. For $130, this is a wonderful package to go with the end to the Halo saga. And, if you're a die-hard Halo fan, this is for you.

Strengths: Comes with Bonus disk & helmet
Weaknesses: Helmet interior is too small to fit
Summary: I went for the legendary edition of Halo 3 mainly because I thought it be really cool to wear master chief's helmet & move around. Jokes aside, I wasn't expecting the helmet to be designed in such a way that it cannot fit a normal head. It is more of a cover for DVD cases. Still it looks impressive from outside though the plastic on it doesn't look very strong. I really loved the contents of bonus disc. The fact that you can watch all the cut scenes from entire Halo series is really a big bonus. Last but not the least - the game rocks. It has so many features , especially for multiplayer that it will keep you busy for a long long time. To enjoy & appreciate the single player, you really need to play it on legendary difficulty. One of the best games ever - no doubt about it

Great package for collectors, not worth the listed MSRP
Strengths: Definitely for collectors, very cool helmet
Weaknesses: Very expensive at original price
Summary: Halo 3 Legendary Edition comes in a BIG box. The helmet, while looks nice, is only for display purposes. For many people this edition isn't worth the money, but it's not too hard to find it for ~$60 these days. At that price, this edition is a definite buy. The game speaks for itself, and the bonus disc isn't really worth watching more than once.

Strengths: Great game, cool looking helmet
Weaknesses: pricey and campaign is a little short
Summary: The spartan helmet speaks for itself its a very cool thing to have if your a big halo fan. The only real problem i see with the Legendary Edition of Halo 3 is the price. 130 bucks is way too much in my own opinion and its really just for the die hard Halo fans. The game itself is awesome and extremely challenging on legendary mode. The campaign is a tad short but the multiplayer makes up for it.

Strengths: Package contents, DVD includes Halo/Halo 2 cinematics.
Weaknesses: Finish quality of helmet.
Summary: I won't comment much on the game, there are many other reviews on that. I like it very much though and it's my first real Halo experience.
As for the Legendary Edition, it is a decent package. I enjoyed watching the cinematics from the old Halo games to catch up on the storyline. I still have more goodies to watch on the 2 DVDs, I also like the 16-minute story of Bungie, the game's creator. The outer box doubles as a poster if you disconnect the glued ends and spread it vertically. The inner box is a nice showpiece in itself.
The helmet looks great from a few feet away, but I expected higher quality in its finish. There are a couple spots in the plastic that scream "this came out of a mold." The worst spot is a corner of the gold eye-shield that isn't as smooth and well-colored as the rest. For the high cost of this package, details like this count.
I bought this for a coworker, and we both enjoyed the contents. Do not expect a flawless work of art, but you will still enjoy the helmet/game stand if you look past a few minor details. The DVD content is great to watch also.

Strengths: Freaking sweet Spartan Helmet. You get the game too. Pretty box to put it all in.
Weaknesses: Freaking small Spartan Helmet...they couldn't have made it a little bigger? PRICE- although they did remedy this at some stores to clear stock.
Summary: As someone who has played Halo since the early original XBOX days (said like it was 50 years ago now), Halo 3 is leaps and bounds better than Halo 2, but still doesn't quite measure up to the original.
Everything that was wrong with Halo 2 has been fixed (for now): i.e. cheaters, bridgers, super-bounces, ridiculous no-scopes, low-life scum who made the game unplayable online. Now that this has been sorted, you can pretty much play a normal game and OWN the guys who stuck it to you in Halo 2 :) The game is fun again. Couple that with Bungie online stats and forums, and you have one of the greatest game franchises to date.
The package comes with the Helmet, which is awesome, an extra DVD of extras and a art boot. Is it worth the extra money...no, but find it on sale and you won't be disappointed. Recommended.

Strengths: Superb gameplay, Xbox Live multiplayer, collector's helmet
Weaknesses: The content on the Legendary bonus DVD is pretty bad, helmet is not wearable, artwork for the DVD cases are black and white
Summary: If you are a Halo fanatic, then the Legendary Edition is for you. It comes with a collector's helmet with stand, the Halo 3 packaging box, poster, and the exclusive Legendary disc. The artwork for the game cases are a dull black and white, which sucks. Were they trying to save money on ink? Another major disappointing thing is the Halo 1 & 2 cut-scenes on the Exclusive disc are horrible in quality. They compressed it to ps1 cut-scene quality to be able to squeeze it all on one disc. Now onto the actual game. If you have played Halo 1 and 2, you know what to expect. Massive battles, intelligent A.I., intriguing storyline and awesome weapons. The weapons are more balanced and the level are better designed to involved back-tracking. Although the single-player experience is fun, it is a tad bit short. An experienced Halo gamer can probably win the game in 6-9 hours depending on the difficulty. As for the on-line multi-player feature, Halo 3 is the best. There new levels, modes, and the weapons are now well-balanced. The innovative Forge mode allows you to design your own battle modes. For example, I designed a Pac-Man like mode where you have one person trying to navigate through the maze to get the rocket launcher while you have others with hammers trying to demolish that person. There quantum possibilities and you can share and play them all on Live. Overall, Halo 3 LE is for those hardcore Halo fans. But at the price you can get them for today (I got my for only $60), it is the must get edition.

Strengths: Package contents
Weaknesses: Helmet quality can be better
Summary: As the Xbox crown jewel, Halo requires no further introduction and if you need one, there is a multitude of websites dedicated to the Halo universe. What I'll focus here in this review is the Legendary edition of Halo 3.
This edition is huge in terms of size. What's included is a scale replica of the Master Chief's hemlet that serves as both a classy display and the home of your Halo game collection (Halo 1 and 2 sold separately). Also included is an interactive bonus disc, Legendary DVD and Beastiarum (included on the DVD).
The Legendary edition can currently be had now for about $80 if you shop around. It is a more reasonable price to jump for the Legendary Edition than the original $130 price tag.

Strengths: Multi-player is very well done, Graphics are nice, Helmet looks very nice, Can be found for much cheaper than MSRP
Weaknesses: Single-player campaign is short, Expensive at MSRP
Summary: This game is undoubtedly one of the most popular in 2007. It has an incredibly fun single player campaign (albeit short compared to the first two installments), tremendously fun multiplayer, and is the finish of a legendary trilogy. The Legendary edition gives you the bonus disks and the helmet. The helmet is amazing. It is VERY large, is extremely nice quality, looks great, and is an awesome collectors item to boot. Unfortunately, one cannot wear it. I purchased this for $60, and at that price (same as normal game) it is a steal! An extremely great value for the price. At its MSRP of $130, however, it cannot be recommended. Luckily, many retailers are selling it highly discounted.

For True Halo Fans
Strengths: Great collector's set, includes a helmet, a must have have for true halo fans
Weaknesses: Expensive, cannot wear helmet
Summary: This is a great set for true halo fans. This game continues where the two original xbox games left off. For anyone that's played those, they won't have trouble playing this game. I bought this mainly for the multiplayer. Combined with xbox live, online gaming is quite convenient. You can easily track and play with friends online. There is a ranking system, which matches you up with people around your skill level. I am primarily a PC gamer, so for me the controls take a little getting used to. But it is a different experience gaming online sitting on the couch in front of a tv, rather than a computer monitor at a desk.
For a collector's set I am a little disappointed. For the price, I was expecting a little more than just the extra helmet and content. Overall if you are a collector or a big fan this may be for you, otherwise I would just get the original edition.

Strengths: excellent single player campaign, satisfying conclusion, classic Halo, amazing replica helmet
Weaknesses: perhaps a little too "classic"
Summary: Chances are that most of you reading this have already purchased Halo 3. For those of you who haven't yet, all I can say is: you must play this game. It offers excellent gunplay, a lengthy campaign, and a great story. A word of warning: although the game is great, it doesn't reinvent the wheel. If you didn't like previous installments in the series, this one won't change your mind. However, for those of you who love the series (as I do), this installment offers the most refined gameplay of all. I can't comment on the multiplayer aspect, as I don't use XBOX Live. However, the single player is more than enough to justify the price tag. And the helmet with the Legendary Edition is amazing. Probably not worth the extra $70 or so, but if you get a good deal ($100 or less), I'd say go for it.

Strengths: Helmet
Weaknesses: Expensive
Summary: The helmet is the best part, aside from the game of course, which is excellent too by the way. Surprisingly, the helmet is very well made (I don't know what other people are complaining about. It's made of plastic, what else do you expect?). The helmet is pretty heavy and not cheap feeling. You get the game, helmet, and 2 bonus discs with exclusive content such as: gamerpics, themes, making-of videos, and interviews. I was able to get the Legendary Edition for only $60 and for that price it's totally worth it! I would not pay the $129.99 retail price. If you can still get it for that price I'd say go for it. You will not be disappointed.

Strengths: Can be found for around $60, same price as the regular edition of the game in most places.
Weaknesses: Halo 3 the game is pretty much the same type of stuff as Halo 1 & 2, nothing groundbreaking.
Summary: The package is very cool. It comes with a Master Chief helmet and stand. The Helmet looks pretty cool, but is very plastic feeling.
The helmet does not have the same quality build one would see from Master Replicas. But it is still pretty nice looking from a few feet away.
The bonus DVDs are cool giving some background info on the series including all the cut scenes from Halo 1 & 2 stitched together as a movie.
For the price, this is a great deal!!

You get what you pay for?! Not always. . .
Strengths: Premiere Halo 3 edition, Cat helmet/stand, collector's edition bonus disc included, 2nd L.E. bonus disc also included, fold-out master chief poster
Weaknesses: Lackluster finish to helmet close up, can't wear it either, lame black bonus discs case covers, L.E. bonus disc displays in 4:3 only with poor video quality, 6 digit release numbers aren't "limited"
Summary: I will be looking specifically at the Legendary Edition of Halo 3 here, so if you want a detailed look at the actual game disc, try one of the other thousands of reviews for it out there already. The Legendary Edition retails for $129.99 (or more than twice the price of the game alone), and while you do get some extras for that cost difference, it's probably not worth the money for most consumers. The biggest L.E. exclusive is the so-called "cat helmet." It's too small for a normal size human to wear, but a house cat's head might be able to fit into it. The included stand holds your game and bonus disc cases (with the helmet resting on top), and while this all looks good from a distance, you can easily see its cheap plastic molding lines upon close inspection. Besides a fold-out master chief poster, the other big L.E. exclusive is a second bonus disc featuring the Halo/Halo 2 cinematics, a Bungie/Halo franchise history, interview with Cortana's voice actor, Red vs. Blue & This Spartan Life videos and a digital Beastarium. While this sounds good, the L.E. bonus disc displays in 4:3 aspect ratio only, and due to high compression, the picture quality is actually pretty bad. While diehard series fans lapped this up at launch, the Halo 3 Legendary Edition was sold new on Amazon for just $60 (less than half price) less than two months following its release, and stacks of them now sit unsold at electronics stores everywhere. For the same price as the game alone, the L.E. becomes an easy purchase, but at its lofty original retail price, the shoddy extras hardly justify the added costs. You do get the highly-rated finale to the Halo trilogy here, and the extras are interesting enough. However, the original $129.99 retail price is just too much for what you get here. Look for a clearance or buy used if you must have the extras. Game publishers like Microsoft really should consider mass producing "limited" editions like this in smaller numbers so the electronics stores don't have to drop them in the bargain bin to get rid of all of them.
