Strengths: Easy to install, small speakers, great sound
Weaknesses: Remote does not work with my television
Summary: Just purchased this system for under $220. It works great in a medium sized room. I did a lot of research and, for the price, this was the best system. The installation was easy, however my room was already wired for surround sound. Everything is labeled so it is easy to figure out where the wires go. The speakers are small, but that does not affect the sound quality. The DVD player is large, but slim, which was expected for a 5 disc changer. The remote is very detailed and, after reading the instruction manual, semi-easy to operate. Unfortunately, my television is not recognized by the remote so I have to continue to use separate remotes. Overall, I am very impressed with this system. For the price, you can't go wrong. The sound definitely beats what comes out of a television alone!

Strengths: Value for price, easy installation
Weaknesses: For the Price, none
Summary: Just bought and installed this system. Works great with my Samsung LCD TV. Installed easily in no time. I did have a little troble trying to figure out how to get surround sound from my tv- as Best Buy said all I needed was a audio cable (in addition to the HDMI cable). I hooked it up, but could not get it right until I went to Samsung's support webpage. In the FAQ, I found out that you could not get surround sound, but rather stereo sound, which was fine with me. Just a matter of using the function button to show aux, then I was able to hear my tv through the 2 front speakers.
I was so thrilled with my purchase, for $243 through ABT electronics, that I bought another for my boyfriend!

Strengths: PRICE; optical-in, HDMI output; Upconversion to 1080i; 5 disc carousel
Weaknesses: Center channel doesn't screw mount; buttons on remote are tiny
Summary: Definitely a good bang for your buck price-wise. I wasn't as impressed with the upconversion as I thought I'd be (difference between 780p and 1080i was negligible). But for how small the speakers are, they certainly more than get the job done.

Strengths: Great sound! Great Features! Good Price.
Weaknesses: The speakers could definately be more attractive, but they aren't that bad.
Summary: I got a great price on this unit so that was definately it's best feature for me. Once I got it set up, I was thrilled. The audio is better than units twice the price and it has great features. Optical audio-in and the ability to connect to a wireless module for the rear are great bonuses. Also, my TV has a slight video delay, and this home theater system allowed be to delay the audio to match. Awesome!

 Samsung HTX50 Strengths: Sounds great when it works.
Weaknesses: I bought this unit for my son for a house warming gift on March 1. The first one was a manufacture defect and never worked. The store immediately exchanged it. The second one lasted only 3 weeks.
Summary: I am out $250.00 for a piece of junk that no one can fix and Samsung doesn't even recognize it as one of theirs. (too new) Don't waste your money on this pile. I will never buy Samsung again. They won't even stand behind thier own product.

Strengths: We matched this side by side to a sony $400.00-1,000w, and the sound seemed more crisp with the SAMSUNG. Sold us
Weaknesses: Sure the speakers could be better looking but then the price would go up. There really ok.

my home theater turn off after 17 minutes of work.
Strengths: good audio,good price
Weaknesses: my home theater, doesn't work for more than 1 year,it got damage,after 17 minutes of turn on it get protection and turn off by it self,and then, i can not use it for long time.
Summary: i bought my home theater one year ago, and then, doesn't work anymore, after 17 minutes of work, show "protection" and then turn off. and afeter than i can not use it for long.

Dies after on for an extended period of time (3o mins or more)
Strengths: Soundsd good,.....when it worked
Weaknesses: Shuts off
Summary: Worked well for a year, then progressively got worse. Should have read reiviews first. Seems this happens alot.Shuts off from overheating, Samsung Customer service says minimum charge $160. Unit cost $220 new

Strengths: Sound, Price, Ease of Set-up & Size of Speakers
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I was blown away the quality sound of this system. I truely felt I was in a theatre. When you couple that sound experience with the competitive price, I would rate this one of the best quality systems around. It was also very simple to set-up. I'm a female novice when it comes to electronics. If I could set it up simply...anyone can. I am very happy I found this spectacular deal...now I understand why it was on back order.

Strengths: Price, sound
Weaknesses: the size, not quality of the speakers
Summary: The HT-X50home theater was simple to install. I have a Samsung LCD/HDTV which was compatable with the remotes. The sound is absolutely fantastic. The look of the speakers are simple, as is the receiver. For the price, and for a person like me who doesn't need any fancy features, the HT-X50 is PERFECT!

Strengths: easy set up, minimum buttons on unit
Weaknesses: long cords for speakers
Summary: I shopped around and the quality and features for the price made me choose this unit. Overall, I've been happy with my purchase. The sound is great and I don't turn it to the maximum. It plays backed-up DVD's that could not play in my current DVD player. The remote is instintive to use. I would recommend it.
