Strengths: Essentially "plug and play". Ease of setup. Numerous inputs and outputs. Outstanding video quality. Logical remote. Good audio from built-in speakers. Super value.
Weaknesses: Inevitable screen glare/reflection. Built in "TV Guide" system a bit complicated and unreliable.
Summary: 2005-06-27 18:14:15 The Toshiba 57H94 is a great choice for someone entering the high def domain without emptying their bank account. Though it may lack the very intense detail of plasma, it does not dissapoint the viewer in it's picture quality or enjoyment. I find the old reliable CRT does just fine in this digital high definition age of television. It is hefty -- and large (don't plan to hang it from the wall!) Toshiba's picture mode settings are versatile and easy to access, and the on screen menu is a breeze to get through. The wide range of inputs (including HDMI and firewire) allow for plenty of video sources. I do not think it is possible to eliminate all glare and reflection from ANY flat screen, but the picture was fine even in a relative bright room. The "TV Guide" system: You may try, but I gave up on it and used the cable guide from Time Warner. All in all -- a best buy considering the dollar per inch ratio, and super video quality.

1 Star Review2000 Dollar Paper Weight
Strengths: Nice picture quality and sound. Pletny of hook ups, 1 coax, 2 av, 1 S-video, 2 HD.
Weaknesses: I've owned this set for 8 months and it's spent 1/3 of that time in a Toshiba repair shop.
Summary: I'd never had any problems with Toshiba or their products until now. I am honestly amazed at how often this set has completely gone out (no sound or pic at all) and at Toshiba's lousy service. It's been in and out of their service center 3 times staying nearly 5 weeks each time. I wish I had paid with a credit catd so I could file some kind of claim. By all means, try another brand of tv. BEWARE!!!!
