Strengths: Great picture, plenty of inputs (including side inputs for easy access when mounted), good built-in speakers.
Weaknesses: Slow start-up
Summary: I searched for about 6 months before I bought my TVs. I decided to change over to HDTV all at once. I choose 2 Samsung TVs and I am nothing but completely satisfied! I choose the 46" 1080p for the living room and a 42" 768p for the bedroom. I had the money to go with a Sony for both, but I couldn't justify the extra expense! I am very happy I chose the Samsungs! Both have been great TVs. FYI: use a template to test the size of the TV in your room before you buy. I probably could have gone with a smaller size in both rooms (especially the 46"). Also, I think that it would have been a better buy to go with a 768p for the living room as well. I don't have HD-DVD or Blue Ray, so I can't tell the difference between the 2 TVs on any other format. I hope this review will help because I would have liked to have known a lot of this before I bought. I can promise you that you will not regret purchasing a Samsung TV!!!!!!

Strengths: Excellent picture quality; Very good price
Weaknesses: Shaky HDMI inputs at 1080p; but there's remedy.
Summary: 2007-10-16 10:58:02 These Samsung's have the best picture we've seen side by side in the showroom and rival those from the Sony's at just 2/3 of the price.

When the TV arrived we are not disappoint with the picture and even the built-in sound on the TVs are very decent with good surround effect from just the TV speakers.

HD picture quality is execellent with good contrast that make it looks more like plasma. It does have a reflective front surface so if you have a bright light source in front of TV reflection might be a problem.

SD sources looks OK in from the built-in tuner. I found that for SD source the picture is much better from our external ReplayTV than the built-in tuner.

There are some minor glitches nonetheless. The power button on the 52" would get stuck sometimes when pressed on the side rather than the middle. We didn't arrange for an exchange since we were offered a discount from the seller instead.

We bought an Upscaling HDMI DVD player to use with the set. Picture quality does improve quite a bit compared to our component DVD players. However, when running at 1080p, we notice occasionally screen flashes just for fractions of a second and returns to normal. At first we thought the DVD player may be the culprit but exchanging the DVD player yield the same result.

In later research we found this to be a common problem in the Samsung, especially for model manufactured in June or earlier. (Ours are from March/April.) There is a fix from Samsung which involve switching a motherboard for HDMI in the set and/or updating firmware in the set. We had not requested the service on the sets yet since the problem are not very frequent and Samsung had come out with newer version of the board every month or 2. We will likely wait till close to end of warranty to request our service so we can just get to the latest board once and be done with.

Reminder for owners: register your set online with Samsung and you'll get 15 month warranty instead of 12.

Strengths: Beautiful appearance, Great Picture, Large display!
Weaknesses: Sound quality
Summary: 2007-09-12 08:46:18 The television is very sharp looking, the frame is glossy and the TV screen is a glossy mirror finish when turned off. I had read some reviews that stated the TV may reflect a glare if placed close to windows. I haven't had that problem, as our TV is placed at a 90 degree angle from 3 very large picture windows and I don't notice a glare. The picture is also very nice and the colors are great. The sound quality does not seem as good as our 40 inch Samsung HDTV, but if we turn the sound up a little it is fine. We had to return our first TV because the sound quality was distorted, but the new TV does not have this problem. Overall we love our new HDTV, and we think it was well worth the money spent!

Strengths: Beautiful tv, awesome picture, user-friendly, tons of features, and plenty of inputs for external devices
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I bought the tv because I was getting high definition cable and I wanted a TV that would have FULL HD technology capability. Even though the current high definition cable picture is 720P, I wanted to be ready for 1080P when it is available. The HD 720P picture rocks

Strengths: Easy Set-up, picture perfect, colors are amazing, blacks equal any high end plasma other than the top tier plasmas, easy adjustments to suit taste of viewer, lighting conditions and sound.
Weaknesses: Pip feature, still working on connection to use PIP and gaming
Summary: Like most buyers I did a lot of online research, I was set on either Sony LCD or Panasonic Plasma, two companies with quality products which I've owned and never had any problems with, both companies offer great pictures in side by side comparison ,however, Samsung always stood out in the stores, after seeing HDTV pictures of several brands in various homes, I was most impressed with the Samsung pictures. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Also the expert review on reflection of the screen being a problem has little basis in fact, my sunny living room is a non factor with the quality of the picture.

Strengths: style, clearity, easy to install
Weaknesses: so far I've found none
Summary: Before doing much homework I was set on getting the Sony 40" 1080P LCD TV. After seeing side by side comparisons, researching throughout the web and speaking to those "in the know" I was convinced that the Samsung is just as good if not better than the Sony but was about 22% less expensive. Based on the savings I decided to upgrade and go for the 46" Samsung and was very pleased. I ordered thorugh Amazon and there were no problems...everything arrived as quoted.

Strengths: Classy trim, 3 HDMIs, 15000:1 contrast, abundance inputs, superb quality image
Weaknesses: ~
Summary: This is clearly the best TV in the current Samsung LCD TV generation. It boosts a dynamic contrast of 15000:1. Regarding the TV images, the specs of the LCDs from the major brands have improved so much in the last couple years that already makes it hard to distinguish any image qualities for the general consumers unless you are the professional audio/videophile.

I owned an LNR469D from 2005, and one thing i noticed is the missing of the old Panoramic view setting in the new model. The Panoramic view allow a 4:3 image to look normal in the middle section while the image edge is stretched to fill the supposedly black bars on both sides. So in the new TV, i just simply use 16:9 to fit my Cablevision image on screen. The Zoom1/2 views for the older TV signals look horrible since you shouldn't zoom on the already low signal quality.

Also, the menu settings also make it easy to choose image modes: Dynamic (very bright image and sometimes too bright), Standard (easier for most living room lighting conditions), Movie (earier on the eyes when you turned off all the lights at home and watch a movie). I think it simplies the color/contrast, etc settings for many users although each setting can still be overriden to suit to individual needs.

One thing good about Samsung TVs is the abundance of inputs. To me, the most important one is HDMI, and it has 2 at the back panel and 1 on the side. I could easily hook up my RCA DVD HDMI out to the TV set, and connect an optical toslink audio wire from the TV to my Sony home theater amplifier. I also have a new TVIX 4100SH box with the HDMI connecting to the TV as well. HDMI makes wiring players a lot easier.

Another thing i like about this TV set is that it has a swivel stand and can be rotated left/right to accomodate guests if they are sitting on the side sofa. I cannot believe that there are many TV models on the market that still do not offer swivel stand.

I have checked out some of the Sharp TV models and some (if not most) of them do not have swivel stand. If you are planning to wall-mount your TV, it is not an issue. The Sony models are pricer, butthey acquire the LCD panel making knowledge/technologies from Samsung. So i am not sure why people still pay premium to them.

Strengths: Outstanding Picture Quality. This is a 46" TV and only weighs 62 lbs.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: The picture quality of my Samsung 1080P HD television is outstanding. I read Consumers Report and it rated the Samgsung (LNT4665F) and Sony (XBR3) as two of the best. I compared these two TV's at a retail store and thought the picture on both were superb. I could not justify paying more money for the Sony. I thought the Samsung was the best buy for me. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Strengths: Great picture. The best on any LCD I've seen to date.
Weaknesses: Sound is o.k.
Summary: I bought this T.V. after looking at reviews, but what really convinced me was when I went into a store and saw the picture. I was floored. I brought my wife into the store the next day and she was in love with the TV. as well. The picture quality is amazing. It has lots of inputs - 3 HDMI, 2 composite. I read that early versions had HDMI connection issues but that doesn't seem to be the case an more. My neighbors keep coming over to take a peek at my new TV. and they are amazed. I put in "Planet Earth" Blu-Ray and it is just amazing. I love this TV. and I'm glad that I purchased it.

Strengths: Crystal Picture, Plenty of Inputs, Easy Menu, Sleek Look
Weaknesses: Makes you hate watching any other TV.
Summary: I received my LN-T4665F 2-days ago to be paired with a MythTV box I have been working on since March. I had done my research and really wanted this TV but thought I could only affort the 4661. Found a great deal on it and picked it up. I had heard nightmares about getting LCD TV's to work with Linux based PVR's and was expecting 2-3 weeks of tuning to get it right. I had it out of the box, setup and working in 20-minutes flat. A simple 1-line change to my xorg.conf file (see the NVIDIA Driver ModePool comment on the MythTV Wiki) but enough about that. The TV is very sleek looking, it comes with a microfiber cloth for a reason, I keep it nearby at all times to chase away dust and fingerprints. I read about some clouding issues on AVSForum but have yet to see any problems. I have a Nintendo Wii connected to the component inputs and it's breathtaking. MythTV is running my HD signals and DVD via DVI to HDMI and is running perfectly at 1080p. I watched the Dead Man's Chest Preview in 1080p and was floored by the detail, I suggest this as an excersise for anyone with this TV since it really shows of it's capabilities (your friends will be jealous). I also have my Hughs Directivo hooked up via the composite input which looks less than stunning. I don't believe it's the TV's fault, I am now able to see the compression artifacts from the medium quality setting on the TiVo that I couldn't on my old TV, I will be migrating completely to the MythTV shortly. I could go on and on but after 4-months of research, I knew this was the perfect choice and I am glad it really was.

Strengths: Great picture, 3 HDMI, overall look and design of the TV is great.
Weaknesses: It would be nice if it had a DVI input (have to buy DVI to HDMI). Sound quality and volume could be better.
Summary: This is my first HDTV purchase. I have read everything on this TV I could find, and am very pleased with my purchase. My PC is currently my only 1080p source and it sure makes a beautiful, crisp image. The colors seem to be great (including black), maybe a little bright at times but you can adjust that to your preference. The remote is nice and simple. It does take a few seconds for the screen to power on, and changing channels takes a little more time then I am used to. This product isn't perfect, but its as close as you can get!

1 Star ReviewSamsung has a poor customer service policy
Strengths: Picture looked good the four days it worked!! Still waiting to get it repaired!!
Weaknesses: Samsung does not let you return defective TVs even though mine only ran a total of maybe 8 hours (2 hours each day)!!
Summary: The service center that Samsung deals with in Wisconsin is terrible. The store asks the symptoms then without even looking at the TV states they do not have the part and will have to order it. Takes 5 days to get the part which they only "think" will fix the problem.

I got the TV 3 weeks ago today (it was a Friday). It failed (no pictures just lines by Monday). I called Samsung, had to call the repair company and found out they would not get the part until the following Monday. I called the store I bought it from, PC Nations, and the salesperson said I would be able to return the TV since it was only working a few days. I canceled the board I had on order (the repair place said this would not be a problem) and then PC Nations' return department waited a week (I contacted them daily), saying they were working on getting me an RMA. Then they said I could not return it, Samsung makes you get it repaired, but they stated they called the repair company and explained the situation.

I called the repair company on Monday and they said they had the part (they did not cancel the order), but no one could come until Thursday (last night). No one came or called and today they called stating the delivery person did not have my paper work (even though I had called the day before to make sure everything was setup). They are suppose to come tomorrow and hopefully they will and the part they bring will fix the TV.

This coming Monday it will be 3 weeks since the TV has not worked. So if you do not care if you have a working TV or not, then buy this one!

Strengths: Beautiful design, high contrast ratio, swivel stand, HDMI 1.3, 1080p/24fps, great color reproduction, etc!
Weaknesses: PIP is limited to antenna(s), jacks could have been placed somewhere better, glossy screen.
Summary: This was the best LCD TV out there at the time I bought it. Great contrast ratio and very accurate color reproduction because of the glossy screen and the wide color-gamut CCFL. A wide host of inputs on including 3 HDMI ports. HDMI 1.3 is supported and allows for 1080p/24fps, which is quite nice. The easy swivel stand is a nice added feature, though I don't use it myself. I only have a few complaints about the TV. First, the PIP can only display a signal from the Coaxial Antennas, so that limits what you can display simultaneously. Secondly, the gloss screen makes for a very nice looking screen and allow for the high contrast ratio and rich color reproduction. However, the glossy screen easily catches glare. Thirdly, I owned a Westinghouse before this TV and though that TV wasn't great, but it did have one great feature I wish Samsung would have put on this TV. On the Westinghouse, the A/V jacks were on a spine behind the TV so if you wall mounted the TV you could see and access the A/V jacks. With the Samsung if you wall mount it you can't see or access the A/V jacks. It's a minor issue but it would have been nice if Samsung would have put more thought into this. Finally, this is a great TV using current technology but if you can wait to buy a TV, the hopefully soon to be released Samsung LNT-4681f, would be a better choice because it uses an LED backlight giving you a significant increase in contrast ratio. Another technology on the horizon that would also be better would be OLED technology which Sony will be deploying in their smaller TV's at the end of the year. OLED allows for better color reproduction and high contrast ration in an EVEN THINNER form factor. With that said, I'd say if you're going to buy a TV today, this is the best one out there right now!

1 Star ReviewPoor Reliability ! Fair HD Picture Quality......
Strengths: Features, many inputs,PIP
Weaknesses: Poor reliability, fair HD picture quality
Summary: I bought this TV in 3/2007 and after less than 20 hours of use the TV suddenly lost power. The web site I bought it from would not take it back. Samsung told me to take it to a local authorized repair shop for warranty repair. The repair shop told me that the problem was a bad motherboard. After waiting 3 weeks for the repair, I finally picked up the TV and low and behold after I get it home I find out that the brightness control does not function. The repair shop told me that Samsung ships them bad motherboards all the time and that they get paid very little from Samsung for warranty repairs. Why they could not discover this defect before I picked it up is a disgrace ! To add insult to injury, they told me they would not pick up or deliver the TV, so I have to bring it to the repair shop myself. Samsung told me they would not replace the TV, and my only recourse would be to deal with the local repair shop (who are very incompetent and could care less about my problems!) or my warranty would be voided. For the little time that I watched the TV, I thought the HD picture quality to be fair, but far from what I would consider a good picture. I also own an LG 42" Plasma HDTV which has an excellent HD picture quality. There is no comparison to the Samsung LCD picture quality. The LG Plasma picture quality is light years better than the Samsung. The only reason I bought the LCD Samsung was because of the higher resolution 1080P HD standard. What a BIG MISTAKE !!! I would strongly recommend not purchasing this TV.
