Strengths: -Flip to turn on/off -Reasonable noise rejection -Good wind rejection -Good battery life -Ability to turn off flashing light -Charges from Motorola phone charger -Ability to pair with 8 devices
Weaknesses: -Carry case is too big -No user replaceable battery -Sound quality a bit thin
Summary: 2005-04-01 09:54:13 I have tried a few different headsets and I personally own an HS820 in addition to the HS810. My advice - Spend the extra money for the HS810, especially if you use it in noisy environments. I bought the HS820 first and I was initially impressed with the sound quality (incoming and outgoing) and loud audio. I also found it light and comfortable to wear. Once I started using it, the honeymoon ended. My last trip ended my marriage with the HS820 because I was in the airport and no one could hear me. I was told the background noise was louder than my voice. I heard this complaint before but didn’t realize how bad it really was. Finally, it died and started beeping while the phone says the bluetooth signal is weak. After doing a bit more research this time, I decided to buy the HS810. The HS810 is a better, more well thought out headset design. One problem I have noticed with my phone (a Motorola V710) is that when paired with any Bluetooth headset, it does not ring. The HS820 was easy to turn on inadvertently because the button would get pressed when I sat down or by something pressing against it. When that happened, I would miss calls. In addition, I would miss calls because you had to press the power button for 5 seconds to turn it on. By then, the call was gone. The HS810 has a flip out boom, which is also the on/off switch. When flipped in, the headset is off. When you flip it out, it turns on instantly. This is much more convenient than holding a multi-function button for 5 seconds. It saves battery life because I never use standby and it is quicker to answer the phone, resulting in less lost calls. While the headset turns on instantly, it does take a second or two for it to pair with the phone from this state. You can leave it open and press the button to instantly answer the phone. The flip insures you will never turn this headset on by mistake. This headset rejects wind and noise much better than the HS820, which is important for me as I frequently use it in airports and outside but it does not have true noise rejection. The Plantronics MX3000 & 3500 have noise canceling but they pick up a lot of wind noise and I hear users complain of the ear clips breaking off easily. The HS810 was the best compromise I could find for sounds quality, noise rejection and comfort

The HS810 includes a neck strap and carrying case, giving you a few options for carrying it, although I just drop it in my pocket. I find the case to be on the big side but it is well designed and includes a belt clip. Many other headsets don’t even include a carry case at all so I am not complaining. I find the HS810 to be comfortable to wear. It sits over the ear but has a silicone shroud that holds it in place and blocks outside noise, which is important because I found the receive audio a bit lower than I would have liked (lower than the HS820 but noticeably better than the phone itself). I don't like the Jabra style in-the-ear buds so that narrowed the choices for me. I like that I can charge the phone and headset from one charger (concurrently with a $5 Y-adapter). Motorola should include this latter accessory. They include an AC charger, which will also charge most Motorola phones (P/N SPN5037B). I find the blue flashing light annoying and it gets me unwanted attention when in public but it does flag those around me that I’m on the phone, which may discourage them from interrupting me when on a call. But when discretion is important, you can easily turn off the light by pressing the headset volume up and down keys simultaneously. That turns the light off until you turn off the headset. There is no way I know off to leave it off as a default (short of surgery).

Overall, I like the HS810 but it’s not perfect. I wish it had a noise canceling mic, a little louder incoming audio and a user replaceable the battery. But is was the best overall headset I could find and not having to carry a separate charger was a big plus for me. If you have a Motorola phone, this is a no brainer but even if not, it is a strong contender. I paid $67 shipped using Pricegrabber, which is less than I paid for the 820 at a local retailer. The received audio on the HS820 is louder and has better fidelity than the HS810 but I can only recommend it if you plan to use it in a quiet environment and don’t mind it’s other drawbacks (see above).

Strengths: 1) Call quality is great on the other end.
Weaknesses: 1) Too quiet, even on the highest volume. The earphone is an open ear design so unfortunately, you can't really block out the sounds from your environment.
Summary: Which is this headsets only drawback - it has this HUGE, BLUE ORB-LIKE LIGHT on it that takes up the whole front of the piece. YOU WILL ATTRACT ATTENTION with this headset on. It blinks in standby, it blinks when in operation, it blinks all the dang time. But, if you can get passed that, it does work pretty well. The sound is a little tinny, but pretty clear. And unlike all my other bluetooth headsets, the headset volume only operates the headset, and doesn't link to the phone volume - this means that you have more adjustability for volume level and loudness, which is good. The mic seems really good - no complaints from those on the other end, basically. And the battery life isn't TOO ugly at 5 hours. And the ear anchor could be a little more rigid and smaller for smaller ears, but it will do as long as you are not jogging around constantly.

Strengths: Easy to set up and use.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: Difficulty when using the voice dial feature in the car. I think the car noise was a distraction. Otherwise I've had no difficulty using this product and would recommend it.

Strengths: Great reception. Bluetooth synchs well with my Motorola MPX 220. Range is very impressive. Have talked while walking around my house while the phone is on the kitchen counter.
Weaknesses: Fits my wife's ear better than mine but it doesn't fall off and I've gotten used to it.
Summary: This is my first experience with a Bluetooth device. I'm very satisfied with the design and performance of this headset and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Bluetooth headset.

Strengths: Cool design, Reception on both ways are good, flip to close the unit
Weaknesses: non-replaceable battery
Summary: This is the best bluetooth unit I have tested so far. Jabra brand is cheaper but design is weird. Blue-Led looks really cool and acts as an indicator for different functioning. Works well with SE T616

Strengths: Very small, good sound quality, lightweight, great battery life, ease of use, blue indicator light very easy to see when in use.
Weaknesses: Reception could be better, does not hold firmly to ear (may fall off if you put your head back), could use an indicator for remaining battery life.
Summary: Purchased this as a replacement for a Sony Ericsson HBH-65. Absolutely no regrets. Love the ability to turn off the headset by closing boom and then answer calls by opening boom. If you get into the habit of closing it after every use, the battery life is almost doubled. Hardly notice the unit when wearing because it is that comfortable and lightweight.

3 Star ReviewThe design of this headset is stunning, and turnin ...
Strengths: Tiny, compact, works flawless with my motorola bluetooth phone
Weaknesses: battery life weak, performs badly outside when there is wind. also expensive
Summary: The design of this headset is stunning, and turning it on and off is as easy as flipping the headset latch. For $89 it's a bit steep--you can get 3rd party bluetooth headsets for around $40 these days--but with all things morotola, you're paying for the design.

The headset worked flawless with my V3 RAZR phone. "Pairing" the headset with my phone took 30 seconds. Using it is as simple as opening the microphone and I can start talking on it.

The battery life is a bit weak. Motorola advertises 5 hrs of talk time, but I'm usually only able to get around 3 hrs at most. Standby time is about 3 days before I have to charge the headset. More than once I've had the headset run out of batteries on me while on a call.

The final thing I don't like about the headset is when I'm outside. If there's a slight breeze the headset will have a lot of static. It's usually unusuable when you're outside.

Strengths: Small, light weight, and reception is excellent. Great looks!
Weaknesses: Doesn't fit too well with my ear. At least it doesn't fall off.
Summary: This is my fourth bluetooth headset I have tested, so far this is is the smallest and lightest of them all and not to mention, reception and range is great. Sound is good as well, it is much better than the previous models and the flip let you choose between the answering on the phone or the headset. Much better than the HS820 model.

Strengths: This bluetooth is much better than my last one as far as others being able to hear me over the background noise (car, wind, etc).
Weaknesses: Comfort - earhook is too big for me (female)
Summary: Overall, I'm quite happy with my headset HS810, mainly because others can hear me much better than on previous bluetooth headsets. However, they also say my voice is too soft (there may be a way to increase the volume on the microphone, but I don't know what it is yet). Also, this piece didn't come with different sized earhooks, and the one that is on there is too big for me. Therefore, it takes two hands to put it on 'just right'. This is an issue since the whole reason I have a headset is because I need my hands free... especially when driving. This means I almost always miss the call and have to call back. However, at least they can hear me when I call them! I might be unhappy if I'd paid full price, but with PriceGrabber's help, I would buy this again if needed.

Strengths: Clear signal and great reception
Weaknesses: Only on my part for not understanding the options...
Summary: 2005-07-17 12:54:53 This is a great item for busy individuals, it allows for great hands free work.

I researched two different Motorola attachments and this one was our first choice. It allows for you to turn it off and the other did not.

Strengths: good reception. works well with wind. mouth piece as on/off switch is convenient
Weaknesses: looks kinda weird battery life so-so.
Summary: 2005-07-15 17:11:32 I like this headset except that it looks a little weird. Otherwise, I think it works well with my phone (sony ericsson) and reception is clear and loud. It works pretty well under strong wind.

Strengths: good audio quality and volume; great battery life; switches on/off with opening/closing the mic boom.
Weaknesses: Audio lacks bass; could be better made.
Summary: This is great for completely hands-free operation with cellphone: One-touch operation for receiving calls as well as making calls with voice-activated dialing. Another great feature is the device switches on and off with the opening/closing of the mic boom, which is unlike many other BT headsets where you need to press a button for 3-4 seconds to switch on/off and then once more to receive the call--long enough delay to miss the call! Even its newer sibling model HS820 suffers from this problem (had HS820 first but exchanged it with HS810 due to the above issue, even though HS820 is more compact and has longer battery life).

The audio volume and quality are good, though bass is on the lower side. Battery life is great -- five hours of talk time and 100 hours of standby, which already great can be made effectively much longer as the device can be switched off by simply closing the mic boom (just open the mic to receive/make a call)! All in all, a great BT headset!

Strengths: 1. Light; 2. Good sound quality on both ends; 3. Design
Weaknesses: 1. Adjustment of ear clip not available
Summary: The weakness mentioned above is not really a big deal. But it would have been nicer if you could adjust the unit to fit your ear however you like. I would rather have it tighter around the ear, while many will appreciate the fact that it does not (especially if you use it a lot).

I am using the HS810 with a Motorola V3 (Razor) and pairing the two was extremely easy. The sound quality is great on both ends. The first time using it I was whispering to test it and the person on the other end could hear me loud and clear. Great accessory!

Strengths: Small, Light Weight Comfortable 5 hours of talk time No wind noise Can be worn on both ears Call Quality
Weaknesses: A bit funny looking with Blue Light staying On when active - else it will blink Audio quality is a bit thin
Summary: This is my first Wireless Headset - and I am impressed. It may not be the top notch in the industry, but it definitely serve the purpose and is worth the price. The quality is very good and the best part is, it is light weight & can be worn on both ears. I am using it with my Nokia phone and the setup is very simple.

Strengths: light weight, long battery life, good voice quality
Weaknesses: some times took too long to be activated
Summary: Over all, it is a very good headset. So far, I am very happy with it. But it would be better if it has the voice dialling function, which can match with my Motorolla Mpx 220 phone.
