Strengths: Price
Weaknesses: Quality - Doesn't last!
Summary: I've bought this hard drive a year ago - it worked fine until last month when strange sounds started to come out of my laptop. Yesterday I get home and the laptop is just buzzing with a terrible sound - the hard drive failed - as if the rotational disks were scratching each other. Thousands of error messages on my screen and lost data - all I could do is press the Power button and say good bye to all my data. Never buy Toshiba hard drive again - I will go with Hitachi from now on.

1 Star ReviewCheap - as in the product
Strengths: Can't think of any ...
Weaknesses: works for only about a year
Summary: My second Toshiba hard drive (MK8026GAX ) just died, one year after replacing the OEM Toshiba hard drive (same model) which came with my lap-top ... and that one died 8 months after buying the lap-top.

Both displayed the same symptoms and results when they died ... very noisy, like an "out of control" car accelerator. Then the computer froze, never to boot again. I've tried to use 3 different data recovery programs to no avail. All three recovery program could see and recognize the hard drive, but they could not access it.
