Strengths: 1. Picture was great without the HD cable hookup. 2. Now have HD and the picture is awesome! 3. Easy setup 4. Great looking unit
Weaknesses: 1. The manual is intimidating (but you really don't need it) 2. Onboard Sound is adequate (doesn't match quality of picture) 3. Channel change slower than desired
Summary: There are a lot of 40" TVs out there right now. I focused on this one after a top rating in Consumer Reports and on comments in PriceGrabber reviews. Thanks to PriceGrabber I was able to save an additional $300! The set is as good as everyone says it is. Ignore the thick manual and just use it as a reference. I just hooked everything up, turned the set on, followed the onscreen prompts, and the unit worked great. The picture was great without the HD hookup from our cable company. We just added that this week and the picture went to awesome. We watched the Green Bay playoff game in the snow yesterday in HD and couldn't believe the quality of the image. We've had great luck with Samsung products in the past. This is our first Samsung TV and we are impressed.

1 Star ReviewGreat for first year and a half
Strengths: Great picture, lots of extras, easy to use
Weaknesses: None except for not so great speakers
Summary: Up to this point, I was very pleased with my Samsung LN-T4061F TV. However, I am now having two problems with it.

The TV used to take 5 seconds to come on after the power button was pressed. Now it takes up 2 minutes.

Also, there are pink dots all over the screen, showing up mostly in areas of black.

Through searching online for a solution, I find that many others have had these same problems. One person says he solved the problem by taking it in for repairs and it cost $200 to have a board of some kind replaced. No one else has offered a solution.

Strengths: Bright, colorful, sharp picture; Tons of connectivity; Unintrusive design; excellent video processing; not-too expensive.
Weaknesses: On-board speakers leave a little room for improvement, totally useable but nothing to brag about
Summary: I've been shopping for a wide screen HDTV for about 4 YEARS at this point. To my eyes, just about every model on the market before 2006 had serious image problems related to the technology of the day. I won't bore you with all the technical shortfalls of projection tv's (LCD or DLP), plasma, or earlier LCD direct view, but I've tried them all and returned them all.

The new Samsung model has finally crossed a threshold and entered the realm of acceptability. The image is bright enough to use in a room that has a full wall of palladium windows during the day and is easily dialed-down for less brightness when the sun goes down. Color and contrast are both excellent as well and the set has enough adjust ability to allow it to be adjusted for a neutral (calibrated) image or tweaked for personal preference without killing the image.

The full 1080x1920 pixel count is a must have feature for me. Yes, I know that most cable / satellite feeds are only low-def 480i and don't take advantage of the full capability of the panel, BUT this does eliminate the screen-door effect (the effect where you can see the individual pixels and the lines separating them). This has been the biggest turn off for me with all of the plasma sets out there even the highly rated Pioneer (not the new 1080 unit). With the 1080x1920 this set has, the image looks solid and has no screen-door issues.

Take a look at the specs if you have unusual connectivity plans, but this set has all of the connector options for just about everyone. The latest HDMI 1.3 for all the cutting edge stuff to be released right down to to simple RF-coax for antique VCr’s (and of course everything in between (component, s-video, comp-video, vga/dvi/hdmi computer input, usb)

Yea, so what about the image? Its excellent! I receive both off-the-air network channels and standard Time-Warner cable. High def (either 720p or 1080i) look amazing on this set. The NASCAR race FOX broadcast yesterday was so sharp it was just like being there. Regular low-def channels are also very good. To me this is also a key feature since most of what I watch is standard cable 480i. I would say the standard def looks just as good on this new set as it does on my old trusty 31" Mitsubishi tube. This is a feature that most of last years models could not get quite rite. Yes the image is now bigger so the imperfections are more obvious, but at the 40" size its not an issue at normal viewing distance. So, yes standard TV looks fine. I connected a USB card reader and viewed some digital photos; wow, amazing detail. I have not connected a PC yet but based on the USB-photos, this set should really make at outstanding monitor.

I don't know what video processor is being used, but it is excellent. I have not seen any macro-blocking of any sort on fast action or anywhere else either. I think the NASCAR race was proof that this set can handle fast motion without the artifacts that previous model have suffered from.

The 4061 has the matte-screen and gives a lower contrast ratio than the smooth-glossy screen of the 4065. If you have a dark room with no windows the 4065 may be the way to go. But for just about everyone else who has windows, lights, and any reflection issues the 4061 is a better choice. Even so the contrast ration on the 4061 is very good. It produces a nice black not a mucky grey as previous models did.

Some discussion on the AVS forums has indicated some units have "flashlight" and "cloud" effects. I'm pretty picky and I will say my set either has none of these effects or the AVS folks have gone off the deep-end looking for flaws.

The only somewhat less than top-notch feature is the sound quality. Don't misunderstand, its very good and compares to any average TV speaker sound. But don't expect full, rich, dynamic audio with strong bass. For that you will need to add a sound package. A lot of the time I just don't feel like turning on all the audio equipment just to watch normal TV; the built in audio is more than adequate for that.

I haven't even begun to tweak this set or add the other video inputs ...... Its a keeper.

Strengths: Amazing picture even on "air channels", much improved over my 3 year old Panasonic and HD is just incredible.
Weaknesses: Captioning when you go to "Mute" has to be a separate operation. Not automatic. Instructions are difficult when trying to hook-up DirecTV. Took many trials and call to Samsung....which didn't help
Summary: Now I'm not a technofile, but I am a big TV watcher and this set is so much an improvement over others I watched prior to this purchase. Like another said, I watch programs I don't normally watch just because the HD is so good. Setting up was easy except for what was mentioned in the Weaknesses portion above. So many options, so much fun.

Strengths: Brilliant picture, unbelievable clarity, perfect size and lots of inputs
Weaknesses: none found yet
Summary: This is my first HDTV so I'm somewhat novice when it comes to looking at other sets. Although I looked at several other sets before I chose this one but settled on the Samsung because of the quality reputation and the fact it fits perfectly into my existing TV cabinet. Since the speakers are on the bottom of the set I was able to get 40" instead of 37" into the space. The 3" makes a big difference, in fact it is the only 40" that is 38.5" wide.

At the same time I bought the TV I switched to Directv and the HD signal it produces is unbelievable. Even the sports and fast action looks great. It looks much better when you are some distance away for the TV not right on top of it. Since my chair is 8-10 feet back I don't notice any blurring and the picture is very crisp. The Non-HD channels look pretty good too.

It has lots of inputs too - 3 HDMIs which is key, the PC DV connector and the USB connection is handy for viewing pictures, mp3, etc.

Picked in up at circuit city for $1400 in early Jan 2008.

If you considering this set - it's worth every penny.

Strengths: Compact design, Excellent pictue quality, excelllent designed remote.
Weaknesses: Remote does not have lighted keys. Cabinet is shiney with significate reflections.
Summary: A GREAT TV for the dollar. Samsung has designed and produced a fine TV. The picture quality is excellent with analog and High definition signal. Sound quality is good to excellent. It has a wide angle of picture side vision. It is a very compant design for a TV of this size. Instructions are excellent with simple set-up.

Strengths: Excellent picture, lots of plugs for outside devices, swivel base, great price.
Weaknesses: None that I know of.
Summary: 2007-06-13 06:55:18 Once I hooked it up to the HD cable box. TV changed in my house forever. Great picture. I have a Samsung HD DVD player, Apple computer screen, HD cable box, digital camera, and digital camcorder connected to the TV. All work great. Found some HDMI cables online for an excellent price and they work great also. I was going to buy a Sony but after comparing the specs the Samsung beat it hands down. My next TV will be a Samsung.

Strengths: Excellent contrast compared to many other brands. This not only affects black but the overall colors. With 1080p contents the image quality is just fabulous and significantly better than with 720p.
Weaknesses: Belly button on/off switch looks retarded.
Summary: This tv has exceeded my expectations in every way. Picture quality is out of this world with HD contents. You would swear you can touch the people when playing 1080p content. When compared side by side with Sony's XBR this tv is equal if not better than the Sony's but at hundreds less. I would prefer the 65 series with it's higher contrast ratio but for $200 less I decided on this set instead and I couldn't be happier.

Strengths: Great 1080p picture. Piano black from lines all sides of the TV, including stand and rear. Numerous HD Input options. Swivel Stand. Hidden Speakers help to minimize the frame around the screen.
Weaknesses: NONE.
Summary: I have been researching this model alone for several months now (returned a 1-month old Sharp Aquos to have this TV) And almost decided against it due to a lot of negative feedback out there, but my TV has none of these reported problems, and the sound is great (I think it sounds better than the 37" Aquos I had)

Gaming has no lag (the aquos had a 6ms response time, and I notice no difference).

Strengths: easy setup, great picture, great price
Weaknesses: sound is not as i would want, but it isn't that bad.
Summary: This lcd is a great television, the picture is just amazing, and enjoy the many hdmi ports. The only thing that i am having problems so far with is hooking up the dvi (laptop), but maybe i am just playing around it just wrong. But everything on the tv is just plug and watch. The sound is average, it is not as bad as people say, but to tell the truth, if you are planning on going home theater style, the sound from the tv won't even matter. great tv, it is a must buy for the price and quality.

Strengths: 3 HDMI inputs, as well as a wealth of other inputs. PC games played very well. Swivel stand, overall clean and classy style.
Weaknesses: QAM tuner can be a bit sketchy sometimes (see comments).
Summary: My setup has my PC hooked up to the Samsung via DVI-HDMI. Pictures, videos, and games look top notch. I was really impressed with the image quality of games at 1080p, plus no artifacts or smearing. Initially, the QAM tuner was able to pick up only a few "in-the-clear" (e.g. local and unencrypted)cable HD channels on the first pass. After a few more attempts I now pick all in-the-clear. On a few occasions, the channel number will change, but according to several online resources, I believe it has more to do with Comcast than the tuner (what else is new??). I am very happy with this TV, especially for the price.

Strengths: Television has a very good picture. The contrast ratio gives much better shades than most other LCD Televisions in this price range. Many different ways to plug in your devices television service.
Weaknesses: It does not have an sd card slot or any slot for pictures from digital camaras.
Summary: This is a great television. The picture is great. I tested my Playstation 3 and Atari 2600, and they both look fantastic. Only problem I had was with my cable tv box. I could not plug the box in to the HDMI input. After a day of trying to get it to work, I called a neighbor with a Samsung, and he got it set up in ten minutes. The cable box would not work with HDMI, even though it has the output. I did not try to call customer service. The television is great. Time Warner Cable on the other hand...

Strengths: This is one awesome TV. I did plenty of research online and at CC, before I finally plunked down my credit card. I even called Samsung support to clarify something.
Weaknesses: Since I use my home theater setup with my Bose speakers all the time I can't comment on the speakers as others have, other than that, there is nothing bad about this TV
Summary: I bought my first Samsung TV in 1984 and they were making great TV's back then too. This TV is unbelieveable. We have a 43" Sony downstairs and the picture on the Samsung is better!

We've got it wall mounted in our bedroom and all I wanna do is to stay in bed and watch it. Everything is just beautiful!

You won't go wrong with this model.

Strengths: WOW, incredable picture clarity! 3 HMDI connections
Weaknesses: Remote has no directions to program other devices and it could use some back lighting.
Summary: I am so impressed with this Tv that I am in aweee. To think of the football games that Ive been missing in High Def just blows my mind.

Color is spot on, volume is quite nice, although I wish it could go louder, but that is what a home theater is for and that is next on my list.

I love this TV and so will YOU!!!

Strengths: This well desinged HDTV is simply amazing. The HD moving pictures are stunning. The 3 built-in HDMI ports is a big plus.
Weaknesses: Built-in speaker is kinda weak.
Summary: It has been a year since I wanted to replace my LCD monitor. I am glad that I picked the LN-T4060F. The 40" LCD is a perfect size for home theater and PC monitor.

- Via "Just Scan" DVI-HDMI, the text, images and moving pictures beautifully display at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

- Selected HD broadcast programs look pretty good too. For stunning pictures, invest money on Planet Earth HD-DVD.
