Strengths: Stylish, Decent Value, Portable
Weaknesses: Battery life, runs hot, finger print magnet
Summary: The dv2310us is a pre-configured version of HP's stylish dv2000. At $800, it is reasonable priced considering the slew of included features and extras. Notable features include: built-in webcam & mic, bluetooth and lightscribe DVD burner.

The 160gb hard drive is more than sufficient for the typical user, but I would recommend from 1GB to 2GB of RAM, especially if you'll be sticking with the Windows Vista OS that comes packaged with the system.

Performance is also pretty good. While I can live with the slight slow down of the system from running Vista, running XP would probably increase performance dramatically. With this notebook, there isn't really any way around it, but a notebook cooling pad is a possible solution.

Battery life is mediocre at under 3 hours. It shouldn't be an issue if you're going to be plugged in most of the time, but if you're not you may want to consider purchasing an extra 6 or 12 cell battery from HP, which will run you $100+

Strengths: Large Disk 160GB, Built-in Firewire, good screen color quality and contrast, Vista Premium, only 5.2 lbs
Weaknesses: Glossy screen
Summary: It has all what I need for a reasonable price of $750 (I bought it on sale). I was looking for a compromise - not too high price, not too heavy, 160 GB HD, 1 GB RAM, Vista Premium to evaluate it (so far works OK with the exception some Visual Basic incompatibility). Turion x2 gives fairly fast processing under Vista (Vista on single processor is very slow). I expect to learn to ignore the glossy screen. Built-in firewire allows easy connection for my iPod and video cameras.

1 Star ReviewWorst Laptop EVER!!
Strengths: Sleek look with remote and wireless features.
Weaknesses: Screen does not turn on at the first boot. Had to boot several times to properlly boot. Laptop heats up fast.
Summary: I bought the DV2310US on ebay. My first time turning the computer on was a nightmare. There are issues in booting. I even got the "blue screen of death" after 1 hour of leaving the computer on. I tried to upgrade the OS and the computer automatically turned off during mid upgrade. Surely, this is the WORST laptop EVER!! I had to return it to the seller on ebay and get my money back.
