Strengths: Incredible versatile "multi format" player. Plays Divx Plays MPEG 4 Battery life Sleek design quality
Weaknesses: screen resolution
Summary: I bought it mainly to play the video's from my iPod but this player is truly amazing.

You can for example put 4 movies in divx format on a little SD card and play it on your portable player with same quality picture as playing a dvd :o) It also extends the battery life. Using the SD card I had nearly 5hrs

I plays several formats of DVD as well, DIVX no problem region 0 and region 1 at this time though it had no problems playing PAL discs!

The iPod plays really well, fun detail, you're ipod is actually charged when you're done instead of having an empty ipod battery.

The unit is well designed, the screen swivel's and the remote is easy to use. The sound is acceptable, though it's not exactly a boom box.

If you shop around you can get a pretty good deal on one...

I really love my little player and would recommend buying this one over many others because it's so versatile.

I can even slideshow my pictures from my digital camera :o)

Well that's everything in a nutshell, if I find out more I update my review.

The unit gets an A+++ from me.

Strengths: Can watch both dvd's and movies from your ipod. Price was great and it is sturdy for little fingers
Weaknesses: none as of yet
Summary: 2007-12-12 13:12:42 I bought this because my 2 and half year old is starting to give me trouble on our errand days. She loves to be watching her favourite sesame street movies while I drive around town. It has a big enough screen that she can enjoy the movies, and it is sturdy and easy to use.

Strengths: Good picture, nice sound, handy remote storage, SD card reader, in & out audio/video, seperate brightness on side of unit
Weaknesses: no STOP button on unit, does not play wma, limited battery option, confusing remote, micro-print instructions
Summary: Overall this is a very good player for the money. The picture is crisp and clear. Sound is acceptable, but could be a little louder for travel. I do not have an Ipod but having the remote stored in the unit is very handy, and you need the remote to STOP the player since there is no STOP button on the unit itself. Even if you do stop the player, the disc is still spinning when you press the OPEN button. You have to wait for the disc to stop spinning on its own before you can take it out. The internal battery makes the unit compact and easy to charge but limits the play time. My previous portable DVD players had external batteries and I always purchased a back-up battery. This is not a big problem for me since I generally use it where I have access to external power.

3 Star ReviewOK Player
Strengths: DIVX SUPPORT
Weaknesses: WEAK BATTERY LIFE, audio volume, (a lack of earphone)
Summary: Price: Fair Usability: 1-AC Plug:Good size. (i.e Not bulky brick like other players. Size is like a one piece of regular SUSHI Nigiri. 2-Battery Life: BAD. OK to watch one DVD. (up to 2.5 hours only) If you put many one hour program as Divx to DVD+/-R/W disc, 2.5 hours is not enough!) 3-Divx/Xvid:It plays fine. Many Divx certified players choke with XVID with 48000 192kbps audio. (Video plays without sound)This DVD player plays fine. Also, it can handle idx/sub format subs with Divx/Xvid file. Even if sub contains two languages (ex. Japanese sub and Eng sub), remote controller's subtitle button can handle this just like a regular DVD. 4-Remote Controller:This might be the stupid area. Remote Controller must be popped out to use. ( all buttons do not work in cradle. if you do not use ipod, (i.e. remote controller must be popped out), why must a user pop out the remote controller?

5-Media, etc. DVD-R,+R, DVD+RW, DVD, CD ...all plays fine.

Region Code can be modified.(Google search needed)

Strengths: Cost, pretty design (all white on the outside), plays broad spectrum of media, lightweight.
Weaknesses: Resolution of LCD, battery is built in, car adaptor cord is rather short.
Summary: I just love this player. It can play so many different media, it's really a joy! I was bragging at work with the pictures of my grandchildren straight from the SD card of my digital camera playable in the Philips player. It's really fun, you can put it in slide show sit back and enjoy.

Also it plays a broad range of formats in the DVD player, from a regular DVD to DIVX discs, MP3,CD, MPEG4 and many more. It however does not play ram discs, not many players besides Panasonic do, but since it plays so many formats it would have been the cherry on the cake :o)

The resolution of the screen is not bad, I've seen for sure worse, but it could be better. The player is priced so good and can handle so many different formats that I could live with it.

The most fun of course is the fact that you can play your iPod!!! It's so much better watching the videos from the iPod on an 8,5" screen than on the tiny screen.

The remote is easy to use, and you can even do some funtions of you iPod via the remote. (FF-REW, etc)

I would have loved to see the possibility of replacing the battery if it ever breaks, the battery is unfortunately build in.

I have to say it, Philips really did a good job this time.

1 Star ReviewDisposable Player
Strengths: Design
Weaknesses: Battery
Summary: Watch out!!!

The built-in battery cannot be replaced by any means. Here are some quotes from Philips' customer support:

"We do not manufacture and sell replacement batteries for the unit."

"We apologize to inform you that the battery is not replaceable. It is an internal part of the portable DVD player and you cannot purchase it anywhere."

Also, Philips told me,

"We do not have available information about the average life duration of the built-in battery."

Basically, Philips is saying they do not know how long the device will last and there is no way to fix it once the battery dies.

Do you want to invest your money to something that may become useless in a month?????

Strengths: sleek design, ipod compatible
Weaknesses: resolution, battery
Summary: This player plays all kinds of formats (DVD, VCD, CD, MP3, DivX, pictures, etc.) and also supports DVDs from multiple regions. Good all around player. I never tried the iPod features, since I don't have an iPod. The battery is built in, so you cannot replace it when it becomes bad. The quality of the picture is just average. I hope it has finer resolution.

Strengths: Got the product on time which I brought for my brothers birthday gift..
Weaknesses: My screen looks like somewhat tilted...
Summary: Good product for gud price...Would have been better if the speakers have been shifted to somewhere else rather than just sharing out the lid space with screen area...Rally gud that it can pay all region CD's and DVD's...
