Strengths: Built like tanks with very heavy construction
Nice detailed sound, especially considering size
Not considerably larger than better computer speakers
Weaknesses: Heavy (16lb combined)
Lacks bass impact (understandable)
Expensive when compared to generic computer speakers
Summary: 2005-08-24 05:57:31 I got these to serve several purposes. One, I needed speakers I could use with my laptop at work. Yeah, they are just a bit too big to go unnoticed and weigh a big too much to cart around in a second laptop bag/case. The second purpose was for use as studio monitors with the same laptop for working with studio and live recordings. In this instance, the size is perfect and easily transportable. People are very surprised how good the sound is from these. The headphone amplifier is much better than my laptop and comes in handy for driving my Sennheiser 570's which are notoriously power hungry.
Word of caution, these can get dangerously loud if you forget where you are (work). Considering I needed better computer speakers, these are about as good as you can get without hitting speaker sizes that are just too prohibitive to be portable. I highly recommend these to anyone with audiophile needs and very small size/space requirements. I can't imagine getting much better than these.
