Strengths: PROS: (1) 1500VA, 875W battery backup, (2) front LCD display, (3) 6x battery backup outlets, (4) 2x surge-only outlets, (5) Phone jack, coax cable, and user-replaceable battery.
Weaknesses: CONS: (1)the surge suppression energy rating only 340 joules. (2) not true Trim mode so during overvoltages, unit will go to battery backup.
Summary: Watch out for the BX versions that are frequently sold in brick-and-mortar stores. Though they look like their BR counterparts, there are differences. Check APC's knowledgebase for details.
Finally, on a system equipped with a 17" LCD monitor, QX6700 CPU, 680i motherboard, 2x SATA drives, and a 8800GTX with 850W power supply, the system draws 280W idle, and 360W in intensive games. Even with a 1500VA UPS, this means that average runtimes will be 17 min (idle) and ~7 min (gaming).

Strengths: Smaller than I thought and the LCD reading is outstanding.
Weaknesses: Haven't found any yet.
Summary: Be sure you purchase the "R" version and not the "S" one. The R isn't that much more and has a lot more capabilities. We get a lot of both under and over voltages here and this unit does a great job of trimming them and not going over to (and wasting) the battery.

Strengths: LCD screen that displays information. Smaller footprint then some of the other 1500VA batteries. Vista Compatable!
Weaknesses: Cost and the battery weights a ton.
Summary: This is the second APC Back-UPS RS 1500VA I've purchased and I'm very happy with both. This UPS does it's job and will protect your computer equipment against a blackouts and surges. I'd recommend this APC Back-UPS to anyone looking for a home or small business UPS system. We experience blackouts quite frequently and this battery has kept our computer running like it's suppose to. The software that comes with the UPS is easy to install and allows you to check your APC unit. APC is the only brand I trust for surge and UPS equipment and I've purchased several of their products over the years and always been happy I did. APC also has great customer support which is hard to find now-a-days.

Strengths: Great Quality Product / LCD Display / Reliable
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2007-12-07 23:15:02 This APC Back-UPS has plenty of power, and it's LCD display gives you all the necessary information you need.
Setup is quick and simple, just connect the internal battery and plug the unit in, then connect your equipment and your done.
You can also monitor the status of the APC Back-ups with your computer using the supplied USB cable and CD software.
One thing to remember is to choose a Back-UPS with enough power, it's better to have more than enough power than not enough, this is one of the reasons why I chose this unit, it has all the power I need and then some !
I think the APC BR1500LCD is the best BACK-UPS you can buy for less than $200.00 !

Strengths: Great item, easy to use and setup
Weaknesses: Joules rating are quite low, price is on the high end compared to newer competition
Summary: I recently purchased this UPS and found it's pretty good. APC is a well known for UPS for years. This particular model has a LCD that tells how much power you are drawning, how must power you will get left, input power and how events. The unit is fairly small though the unit is quite heavy. I have many APC UPS and most of them has been pretty reliable over the years. However, a few newer companies has came onto the UPS market and have offer better surge protection and at a lower price. Though their reliability maybe in question. I guess I'll stay with this one for now.

Strengths: Great does what it promises.
Weaknesses: Installation instructions not clear.
Summary: We had an earlier Back-UPS device and after 10 years the battery needed to be replaced. Rather then just get a new battery we upgraded. This model has a lot more outlets and we can even connect our phone line. It has a great LCD display, it's not as large and bulky as the earlier models. Our our complaint was the installation directions. Or lack of them, the sheet had pictures which were not very clear. We would prefer a booklet with words and details.

Strengths: LCD, LCD, LCD!
Weaknesses: None so far, maybe it's a bit heavy but it's a UPS.
Summary: The LCD is great in this - no longer is a UPS just a black box that you don't know what's going on - the LCD shows you battery life, current power usage, estimated run time (should the power go out), etc etc. It has a ton of connections on the back for all your devices. Sure it's heavy, but how else do you expect it to provide so much bakcup power

Strengths: Handles under and over voltage situations
LCD screen gives a great deal of information
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I purchased the Back-UPS RS 1500 because I have had a lot of problems with voltage fluctuations. This has caused my computer to reboot even though a UPS is in place. This UPS seems to have solved the problem.
I really like the way the LCD screen informs you about the quality of the voltage as well as the number of minutes remaining on battery backup.

Strengths: * LCD Display
* Capacity (1500VA)
Weaknesses: * Slight humming noise periodically
Summary: Functionally, there's nothing wrong with this UPC. I use it to provide battery backup to my Powermac G5 tower and haven't had any problems thus far. The LCD display is nice because you can tell how much power is being drawn from it by the things plugged in. There are a number of screens that you can cycle through which can tell you the load, time remaining, and any events that have occured. The main event that occurs on my UPC is that it goes to battery backup whenever I print via my brother printer (even though it's plugged into a separate outlet) because it draws so much power. I records how many events have happened since the last reset.
My only gripe is that there's this high pitched hum that I hear from time to time. Not sure if it's normal or a defect, but it's not too noticable most of the time.
