Strengths: Battery runtime, LCD providing quick information, 8 Outlets (6 with battery backup), 3 year warranty, Alarm mute
Weaknesses: Only one connection for phone or Ethernet
Summary: This is a good UPS. It has plenty of outlets for my computer setup including peripherals. The LCD provides quick information including battery runtime, load and voltage. There is more than enough capacity for a typical computer setup and it provides long runtime in when the power goes out. With my setup this is about 45 minutes. The PowerChute software that comes with it allows you to easily change settings such as sensitivity, and can display the same information as the LCD. The program shows more information for this UPS than it does for lower models such as the Back-UPS CS line. The coax connections are good for protecting cable modems and it has one set of connections that can be used for either phone lines or Ethernet. You can also mute the alarms, which is useful during a power outage because you can stop the beeping without turning off the unit. The unit has a user replaceable battery. The unit feels and appears well made. Based on APC's reliability record, I would expect to be able to use this unit for as long as I would like, as long as I replace the batteries when needed (every 3-5 years). I would recommend this unit if it fits your needs.
