Strengths: Lightweight, burns to DL DVD discs, zooms very nicely, good picture quality, can play DVDs back on DVD player
Weaknesses: you will need a tripod when zooming in very near to avoid camera shake, might be too small for some people
Summary: Ended up buying this for little sisters graduation and it did the job very well. Images were bright and crisp; unfortunately I could not test it out during nighttime. Would definitely buy again.

1 Star ReviewBad Quality
Strengths: None
Weaknesses: Extremely poor quality, unreliable product; Perhaps poor design, or poor manufactural QA.
Summary: I bought a Canon DC230 from Buydig.com. After played with it for a couple of days, the screen display became frozen all the sudden, and the disc chamber could not be open either. I called Canon, and described the problem. Canon suggested that the unit need to be serviced. Since it's still a brand new camcorder, I sent it back to Buydig.com, and exchanged to a different brand new unit. The new unit, after 30 minutes successful recording, showed a no disc warning suddenly. Followed the product manual, and checked everything possible associating with the problem, I could not get the problem go away. I put a new disc, it would not initialize the disc. Replacing with different types or brands of discs, I still could not make it work. Called Canon again, the answer was to send it for service.

At this point, I just lost my confidence with the product completely. If you think it just happened to me with the bad luck, I'd say the probability of the bad quality units are too high. Stay away with it!
