Strengths: Fast, print quality that is above laser, heavy duty build quality, very cheap printing costs, fast duplexing, remote admin, 50 page ADF, fast processor, memory can be upgraded to 1 gig cheaply.
Weaknesses: Fine dithering on color pictures make it less than photo realisitc. This is only noticiable for small pictures due to the way the eye focues in on the picture.
Summary: This is a surprise buy. It came down to needing a color multi-purpose printer fax but most on the market fit into a low end (around $400) or the very high end (like this one and above). Middle market MFPs are inadequate in nearly all of the features and slow. I’m kind of mad that there was not a cheaper alternative than this one. With that being said, once sticker shock wears off its well worth the money. It’s a very heavy duty machine that I can tell will last many years under heavy use. While I’m only using for 1-2 people it’s really made for a small office since its networked and has a hard drive (80gig). So far after three months heavy use I’ve only gone through only 1 stick of ink. So in the long run it’s going to be cheaper than any of the ink jets and lasers. Additionally the maintenance is less/easier than laser which is a huge benefit to an office of inexperienced computer users. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone who needs a multifunction. Also I could see this being a great printer for doing allot of sales literature printing (brochures, flyers, ect).
