1 Star ReviewOne of the worst phones I have ever purchased twice.
Strengths: It works well for 3 to 6 months average.
Weaknesses: You name it goes wrong. Plus the things you didn't think would go wrong. It stops working and Vtech doesn't care. It is to late to get your money back.
Summary: If you are thinking of purchasing a Vtech phone think again and again. These have to be one of the most problematic phones ever created. I have gone through three sets now and my parents have gone through at least four different models). This is not a long term phone investment. Your phones are great for about three to six months and then something happens - they just don't work anymore. Of course this is after your allowed 30 days. Then you think that Vtech will help you. THINK AGAIN! Yes they will replace your phone - only after you package them up, pay for the shipping, send them out, they process them, check them out, locate another phone in the warehouse, then send it back to you through standard mail. Meanwhile you are left with no phone and feel screwed - to top it off they don't care. Spend your money on a company that values its customers and stands behind its product. There support is useless - they read and say exactly what they are suppose to. Why bother! DON'T DO IT!!!!

Strengths: it comes with two handsets which is a good plus, the range is good too
Weaknesses: there have been a couple times when someone else picks up a corded phone i will get an echo in the corless one
Summary: i would buy this product again for the ability it has to work over a greater distance than any other cordless phone i have had in the past.

1 Star ReviewVTech IP5850 Cordless Phone
Strengths: Easy to use. The second handset is a reason why this model was purchased.
Weaknesses: Model has failed to perform as expected. See below.
Summary: This model was first purchased in April 2005 and it worked well for 7 months. Recently, the answering machine would not answer. Instead it would hang up on the caller after the third ring. Since it was purchased with a warranty, the model was exchanged with one identical to it. That was 3 weeks ago. The answering machine now ceases to operate correctly. It will answer on the 2 ring setting ONLY. It will not operate on ANY other setting. The handset rings three times, and then promptly hangs up. This model will be returned but not for the same item. It is odd that two different answering machines would fail to operate in the same manner.

    2 Years
Strengths: Extra handset; can use any AAA rechargable battery; good speaker phone in handset.
Weaknesses: Only holds 20 numbers in phone book
Summary: I've had this phone for two years now. I've never had a problem with the system. I don't know if I just got a good unit, since I haven't experienced any of the problems mentioned in the other reviews. The speaker phone in the handset works great; I've never had any problems with the answering recorder; it has worked great even while hooked up through a fax machine. I have a single phone line with a second number piggy-backed (distinctive ring) for the fax machine, and once I had it set up, it has worked great all this time. I'm happy with this phone and would buy it again.

Strengths: Very Good & clear reception , no interference from 2.4 GHz home netwrking , uses generic AAA rechargeables
Weaknesses: Not expandable beyond 2 handsets , Display are a little hard to see .
Summary: I have been using this phone for a month now and am absolutely satisfied ! It has very clear reception and has good range across 3 walls over 40 feet . Speakerphone is also good . The best i like is that it does not uses any expensive proprietary batteries , instead the handsets use generic AAA rechargeables which can be cheaply replaced if needed . So far i have used it for a couple of hours continuosly without any issues . But i , like some others , always place the handsets back in their charger units after use .

Overall i am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend it .
