Strengths: It sports the latest upgrades and innovations that Pioneer has to offer. It is a only a meager step up from the DVR-111D, but has refined options that premiered in the 111 and well worth the upgrade.
Weaknesses: Is a little more finicky with poor or bad media.
Summary: All my gear that has anything to do with Audio/Video has been Pioneer since they first started making it. Their Elite lines beyond compare. So I have come to rely on the fact that Pioneer is the way to go and that you have less problems all around. I have read simple one line professional reviews on the DVR lines and they all basically say if you want to do it right . . . go Pioneer. Since I depend on Pioneer Audio/Video gear I have the same confidence in their computer accessories and can think of no other. Even when looking at unit with really great "toy" features, I still stick with the "work horse" of the industry. Pioneer.
