3 Star ReviewToshiba 19HLV87 HDTV
Strengths: perfect size for my home office, built in DVD player, ATSC - NTSC & QAM Tuners help me get High def signal off the air thru my rabbit ears antenna
Weaknesses: Only 1 HDMI input, poor manual, freezes at times
Summary: I like the space saving feature of this TV for my home office. It has all the features I wanted including the built in DVD player and also the ATSC tuner that allows me to receive local broadcast on the major networks via my rabbit ears antenna. However, the unit freezes at times and I wish I had more than one HDMI input.

Strengths: Small size, weight, space saving. Screen has plenty of definition with a 1440 x 900 pixel screen. Simple use of remote which my quite old father finds easy to use and uncomplicated in his den.
Weaknesses: Speakers sound a little distorted at higher volumes... my father has lost some of his hearing so this might not be of concern if used by a person with normal hearing capabilities
Summary: 2007-11-29 10:03:59 For 19" TV, color is good, picture is great, Over The Air HDTV on Fox TV and ABC in 720P football sports broadcasts with a $30 portable antenna is unbelievably good, CBS in 1080i has more issues with panning motions being blurry. I guess the 720P has a different format that's better for sports action?

Remote is well labeled, good in size (dad loses it regularly, or can't remember where he put it, old people need pagers for all their remote devices. :-) )

After having both lenses in Dad eyes being surgically replaced in Sept, he is loving this little TV, says that even on his 80th birthday, his vision is still razor sharp again, and a 19" TV is more than enough for him in the den.

Toshiba has done it again, great picture quality for a great price.

Edit:

After Dad saw the neighbors Sony huge $3500 XBR job, he was whining about the color on his little TV. I went into the menu section, brought the Brightness up to 92 and the

Color to 95 and set the Tint at 55. Finally made Dad happy with the skin colors on ABC 5 o'clock News .

Note: With lots of new broadcasts being shot in Hi Def, it is a fact that the temp K of the lighting and makeup of the actors is being changed to acomodate HD cameras. You can not tune a TV to make SD broadcasts shot and sent in analogue 480i look good, and then still have HD camera shot and broadcast programs in 720p or 1080i look good. It's either one or the other. I've tweaked and tuned the TV to look good for Hi Def shot and broadcast programs, since analogue and 480 is being phased out in 2009.
