Good for photos, but not for video.
Strengths: 7x zoom.
Optical zooming during video.
Small size.
Weaknesses: Dissapointing video quality.
Summary: I'm a big fan of Exilim series and I thought that finally a product is out which will be able to be used both as camcorder and camera, since this Casio as very good video capabilities (with optical zoom, stereo sound, anti-shake and mpeg4 video). However, I was very disappointed with its video capability. It cannot properly focus while recording, so it is only good for recording non-moving objects in good light conditions. If you are looking for a hybrid camera-camcorder, I guess you need to wait more. I returned the camera, and continuing to use my EX-Z50 and SV-AV100 for photos and videos until some manufacturer comes up with a good hybrid camera.

just 10 minutes video files
Strengths: easy to use, H.264, 848x480, 30fps
Weaknesses: 1. Each continuous recorded video file could have maximum 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the video recording stop automatically. Need to start manually the new video recording.
2. No AC power plug-in.
Summary: In last 2 years I have used Casio Exilim P505 and S600 for hundred of hours. I have experienced EX-V7 from about 60 days. EX-V7 has better video.

Looks good on paper, but DOA.
Strengths: Good specs, if it worked it would be terrific.
Weaknesses: Defective out of box.
Summary: What a disappointment. This camera seemed to be a great replacement for my old 2MP unit. Some reviews on it not so good, but I decided to take a chance. To my horror, it powered up with a "stabilizer not available" error. A call to Casio confirmed this was a common issue with this camera. It isn't functional, powers itself off after the error. I am disappointed and still looking for a camera.

Strengths: 7x optical zoom, NO external lens to break. Optical zoom while shooting video. Compact size. Image stabilizer. Anti Shake DSP detects movement & adjusts for the ideal ISO rate and shutter speed.
Weaknesses: Instructions are not that in depth. It is a little pricey for a 7M pixel camera, but is worth the extra copst for it's size and features.
Summary: I have had the camera for almost 3 weeks and took it on a trip. It has been a great camera that shoots both pics and video. Very happy with the purchase.
