Strengths: WATERPROOF!!! SHOCKPROOF!!! Nice large bright LCD screen Panorama shot mode
Weaknesses: Good picture quality but limited optical zoom
Summary: Amazingly, this camera claims to be nearly indestructible and versatile. We bought it as a small point-and-shoot, sub-compact, pocket-sized camera because our Kodak camera just died. With a Hawaii trip planned, we wanted a small camera in addition to our Nikon D40x DSLR which we will use when picture quality is the primary concern. But this camera is COMPACT and will probably take many of our pictures due to portability. Picture quality is nice with 7.1 megapixels and good cropping detail. Only 3x optical zoom, though. It actually IS waterproof, because I just HAD to try it right out of the box. I shot a couple pictures to see how it worked, and then the kids and I filled the sink and took pictures of the drain. It worked!! I haven't tried to drop-test it, yet, but it probably won't take long for the first accidental test. We will try some pictures of tropical fish in the ocean in Hawaii. If that works as well as my sink test, this will prove to be an amazingly versatile camera!!

Strengths: Waterproof rated at 33ft., Shock Proof, Fast shutter speed.
Weaknesses: Movie mode only 15fps instead of 30fps. Wish it was SD card instead of XD card.
Summary: Let's start out by me owning a Stylus 725 SW for about a year and was an excellent camera, then saw an advertisement for the Pentax Optio w30, I liked the feature that it had an SD slot instead of the XD slot that the Olympus camera had so it would be compatible with Mp3 Player, Mobile Phone, etc.. Let me tell you the Optio w30 was not a good camera at all it had problems right out of the box, loud shutter noise when in movie mode, very very slow shutter speed, now I wish I didn't sell the Olympus, so then I upgraded to to the 770 SW and it had similar menu features as the Stylus 725 sw and it functions the way a camera should be, very excellent.

Was also looking at the Olympus Stylus 790 SW, but decided on the 770 SW instead for certain key features that the 790 SW was lacking. First of all the 790 SW in movie mode can record 640 X 480 (30fps) and the 770 SW can record 640 x 480 (15fps), the thing is the 790 SW has a set limit for only 10 seconds. I decided I don't need the 30fps and just use the 15fps with as much recording time the XD card can accommodate. Also the 770 SW can go to deeper depths up to 33ft, compared to the 725 SW and 790 SW's 10-15ft depths. It works out good for me.
