Strengths: This BOSE GS II system has virtually distortion free speakers even when played loud. This system simulates the surround sound feeling in movie theatres to a live concert. Great for watching DVDs.
Weaknesses: Not 100% surround sound system and the cables to connect the system are not very long. The price is expensive.
Summary: After spending many weeks researching for a home theatre system, I noticed that the Bose GS II 321 system gives the best surround under $1500. The difference between the Bose GS II compared to the Bose II is the better GS (Gemstone) speakers. I recommend the GS speakers since there's a real noticable difference in sound clarity and smaller size.

Others systems like Sony, Kenwood, Polk, Onkyo and others didn't come close in loudness with sound clarity.

There is a good balance of bass and treble and not too much of either. IMO, it plays it as it was meant to be played. It's also improved from the previous release.

The setup is very simple if you follow the hookup instructions.

If you are serious about high end home theatre sound and don't want to spend more than $1500, check it out at a store. See if you agree?

Note that not everyone will have the same taste.

Strengths: Excellent sound from such a small package. Best setup instructions and highest quality remote I've seen.
Weaknesses: Not true surround sound. Pricey when compared to comparable systems.
Summary: I chose the Bose 321 GS after evaluating several other brands of multiple speaker HT systems. After two weeks of use, I can honestly say the sound quality is superb, although it is certainly not true surround sound.

I like the concept of the fewer speakers since you do not have to string speaker wire around the room. Plus the small satellite speakers can be placed unobtrusivly. The wiring is superb and very durable looking but on the short side and you cannot lengthen it. The connectors are rugged. The manual along with the DVD movie that walks you through the hookup are outstanding.

The remote is the best I've ever seen with good feel and plenty of space between the buttons. It is not crowded like so many others. The instructions provided the necessary codes to train it for virtually every brand of component—a shortcoming of the other systems I tried.

A possible issue is an occasional slight lag between the sound and the picture. When there is a lag it is the picture that lags, but not by much. I'm not sure this is an issue with the Bose or just because a component other than the TV is providing the sound.

In closing. I would not call it the most beautiful design I've seen, but it is a high quality piece of equipment worthy of the Bose name.

Strengths: Great sound even at higher volumes.
Weaknesses: Could not find any so far..
Summary: I did quite a bit of research before deciding on a home theatre. Bose GS seems to be the best best for a good sound system without much wiring/setup.

If you looking for a DVD system with clear, enjoyable sound, then this is it !!!

Strengths: Great sound for tv/am/fm/dvd from a compact system
Weaknesses: Unable to adjust wire length of speakers without cutting and splicing.
Summary: This unit provides the equivalent quality of a major surround sound system. No wiring across the room required, but with almost the same effect of 5 speakers.

Unit blends in with system and is a perfect fit for audio video stands or furniture. Suggest you demo to believe.

2 Star ReviewMusic sounds great on this system. I like how big ...
Strengths: Really good sound from only 2 small speakers and bass module
Weaknesses: Horrible DVD performance on HDTV/questionable surround sound reproduction
Summary: Music sounds great on this system. I like how big and clear the sound is without being overmodulated and that it comes from such a small package. It is well built, simple to set up and use, and frankly, just an elegant piece of equipment. However, I am returning it tomorrow.

The DVD video quality is horrible! I'm not exaggerating. The picture is so bad at times, that it looks almost solarized. The picture looks like a computer monitor set to thousands of colors. It is really distracting and in no way acceptable in a system that costs more that $1400.

Surround sound reproduction from the (2) speaker system is just ok. You do get a sense that there is a center speaker, but rear imaging is just not there. It's not even better that my TV's built-in pseudo surround sound.

Inputs on the back are limited to (1) AUX and (1) Cable/Sat input. I like to keep it simple, that's why I bought this system after all, but it is so limiting that I can't even hook up a VCR and an iPod at the same time. Geez.

I wanted to like this system, and I do for music, but that's not enough to justify the price.

2 Star ReviewI'm trying so hard to make this thing work, but it's flawed...
Strengths: Great sound, All-in-one package
Weaknesses: Horrible Progressive Scan - makes the whole package a waste since you can't watch your DVDs in excellent quality.
Summary: I think the idea of the 321 is great and Bose does an above average job of throwing 5.1 speakers into 2.1. The product is deceptive in that in that you expect it to perform a lot better than it does. It's the kind of unit you look at and like it's compact style as well as its all-in-one package, but remember, Bose is the business of making speakers, not DVD players. They need to increase their R&D of progressive scan DVD.
