Dell's Plastic Fetish
Strengths: The actual system performance, once a clean install is performed, is decent for the price.
Weaknesses: The plastic case and lack of expandibility.
Summary: I'm sick of the front bezel of my computer shaking. I shouldn't have to keep pushing on the front bezel to keep the system quiet. While this machine is not an XPS, I still shelled out $800 for it when I bought it and I expect it to be built better than a $400 e-machine. I also have a problem with the fact that Dell (as with most other major OEMs) pre-loads their machines with all sorts of junk that not only fills the hard drive but makes the computer boot slow. Finally, when you advertise the number of hard drive bays that come with the system, I expect the machine to arrive capable of having hard drives installed in those bays. I should not have to buy additional brackets, to create those bays. Dell's disclosure practices need some work, their website should say, we have holes in the chasis so that you may buy brackets to install additional hard drives.
