Summary: 2005-01-06 08:30:56 I really like this camera. I had a Kodak digital camera before, 2.0 megapixel, and I thought I wouldn't get another Kodak because the old one was clunky and slow. But, I did a lot of research and realized that Kodak has come a long way -- its new cameras are highly rated and have won awards on customer satisfaction. So, after also seeing that it was one of the best buys, I bought the CX7530.
The controls are very intuitive. I have been taking lots of pictures and video, reviewing many within the camera and deleting those not-so-good ones, and I have uploaded pictures to my PC (without an EasyShare docking station) - all without opening the manual. Now, I'm sure there are features I'm not using and I will review the manual when I can, but I just want to point out that you can just open the box, put in the batteries, and start using this camera immediately.
The size is great. The LCD is a nice and clear, 1.8" color screen. And, I love the fact that you can zoom into (1X-8X) and scroll/pan around a picture you are reviewing. You get 32MB of internal memory, on which you could store up to 200 "favorite" pictures. You don't need to have an external memory card to use the camera for pictures, but I got a 512MB SD card to try to get the most out of the camera when I'm away from home.
Another great feature is the movie mode. You can create a continuous video with audio capture and playback; the length of the video is not limited except by the capacity of your memory card.
As for batteries... I love that I just need 2 AA batteries. So, if I run out of power and don't have spares, I can easily find AA's just about anywhere. Luckily, I haven't run into that problem yet; I've been using Maha PowerEx batteries, and they last quite a while (sorry, I can't be more quantitative). I'm not sure if it's the batteries or the fact that I don't usually use the LCD when taking pictures... probably both.
The optical zoom seems to be fine for my needs. I haven't used the digital zoom yet.
The one complaint I do have is with the flash. From the specs, it seemed like the flash range would be pretty good (2 to 6.9 or 11.8 ft). But, I have found that some pictures don't come out as bright as I think they should at the distance from which I take the pictures. In addition, the shutter speed has been ok in that I can take a second shot fairly quickly after the first, but the flash doesn't always recover so quickly and so I end up with a very dark picture. These two weaknesses aren't always issues; other users may not even notice them.
As for the complaint I commonly see in other reviews -- that the camera setup needs to be re-set if you take out the batteries -- I've only see this happen when I've tried to turn on the camera when there are no batteries in the camera. So, I think you just need to make sure there are batteries installed whenever you have your camera on.
The prints that I have developed so far are great. I have no complaints there; they look pretty much the way they do on the computer screen.
Overall, I still recommend this camera. It has so many great features for a somewhat intermediate point-and-shoot user like me. And, for a 5 megapixel, it's such a good buy.

Strengths: quality of photo
Weaknesses: nothing so far
Summary: This was my first digital camera. Reading its bad reviews about battery life and software, I was hesitant to buy this camera. But, since I saw a good deal with free 256 MB SD card on dell, I took a risk. But whatever I had read about battery life, it proved wrong in my case. I can take more than 100 shots with NiMH rechargeable batteries rated 1800 mAh. It is enough for me. I don't worry about software because I don't use it. So far I am satisfied.

Strengths: Inexpensive for a 5mp digital camera. Easy to use. 1.8” LCD Screen. Picture quality is very good. Powered by 2 AA-size batteries.
Weaknesses: The size is on bulky side. No way to disable the digital zoom feature.
Summary: This is my second Kodak purchase for the family. Overall, I am impressed with Kodak quality so far. Never disappointed. I also like 2 movie modes available (320x240 @ 20fps) and VGA (640x480 @ 13fps). Make sure you get at least 512MB of SD card.

Strengths: Great camera for the money
Weaknesses: Flash is weak except within a few feet.
Summary: I purchased this camera as a second digital camera to be able to take pictures in the SD format. At 5 Megapixels, it takes great pictures and is very simple to operate.
Te flash is not very good but it's well worth the mones spent.

Strengths: Easy to use, clear LCD screen, controls are easy to locate, excellent picture quality.
Weaknesses: I find that the automatic feature regarding internal memory and memory card occaisionally switches to internal even when the controls are set to automatic.
Summary: I bought this camera for my daughter and she loves using it. It has very easy controls to take pictures. The picture quality is excellent, the LCD screen is large and the sound is great when the camera turns on. This has been a great first camera for her.

Summary: I have owned the camera only a few days, I absolute love it. As a 5 MP camera, it takes very good quality pictures. but that's not all. It's easy to operate, could use 3 AA batteries which is very convenient for people on the go. Also, it's compact, yet with a very sharp viewing screen. Overall, great camera, well worth the money.

Strengths: great picture quality, price, easy to use
Weaknesses: fps(frames per second) for video, battery life, digital zoom, flash is moody for qualitydepending on the lighting
Summary: Eats battery life. I bought 2500 mAh rechargables...they work great!!! For $20 bucks, they last a long time and they recharge. I suggest reading the instructions in detail and searching online for picture taking tips for this specific model. Once i learned the details, pictures came out better. I highly suggest experimenting. I bought a 512mb disk and it can hold at least 30minutes of video.(or over 350 pictures for sure) would definitely purchase again.

Strengths: 2AA rechargeables are good for at least 100 shots.
Picture quality is sometimes astonishingly good.
The LCD screen is excellent, and very accurately depicts the final shot.
Weaknesses: If you want center spot metering (which I usually do), you have to set it thru the menu system every time you turn the camera on - very annoying.
It also forgets the white balance and focus zone.
Summary: Sometimes the pictures this camera takes are stunningly accurate, like a professional camera.
The LCD screen is just excellent. It is useable even in strong daylight, unlike many highly acclaimed cameras. I rarely ever use the viewfinder, because the LCD screen shows you exactly how the scene will be exposed, and even small shifts in aim - up or down or to one side can create very beneficial shifts in the exposure. Furthermore, by depressing the shutter half-way, you can lock in the exposure and re-compose the picture. This capability is priceless, and unmatched by some very expensive cameras.
This camera has a rugged quality and a rectangular shape that allows it to be carried in your front pocket. Also, the lens is automatically protected when you turn it off, and there is no lens cap to worry about. Even though it doesn't have a protruding "handle" like some digi-cams, it is easy to grip and hold.
What I don't like:
Many outdoor shots (especially shots of streams and lakes) have a blue cast that I don't like but most people probably don't mind.
The camera forgets user settings every time you turn it off. Almost always I would like the exposure metering to be center spot so that the brightest area of the picture can be properly exposed (by aiming at it and depressing the shutter half-way). Unforunately this is not the default, so it needs to be set thru the menu system every time I turn the camera on - this takes time and has to be remembered. Otherwise you won't get the best picture.
Conclusion: At it's price, this camera is wonderful. Much better than I expected. The features it doesn't have are not important to me.

Summary: I've used several digital cameras and found that the Kodak CX7530 performs beyond expectations for a point-and-shoot camera. This camera excels in rendering images with incredible sharpness, excellent exposure, and well balanced color saturation.
I found it rare to get an image out of focus with this camera. The 5 MP gives me room to crop images without loosing detail. I was able to figure out all major functions without even opening the manual. The fast turn-on time, shutter to shot, and shot to shot performance took me by surprize...capture the moment and review it immediately! There is some metal on the camera that adds ruggedness and gives it a "well built" feel. The large bright LCD helps review image quality quickly as well as help compose without squinting.
If you want an excellent point and shoot that gives you fast, sharp, reliable results, then the cx7530 is the perfect choice.
Pros:
1. multi-point focus always renders sharp foreground images; i found few images out of focus.
2. shadows and dark areas are not grainy or noisy; this is helpful when you're cropping pics and enlarging them.
3. very smooth transitions in bright area and never washed out; this helps you with contrast especially if you convert to black and white later
4. very fast; press the shutter button and you don't miss the moment!
5. very quick; shot to shot
6. fast turn on; rotate the dial and it's almost ready before you are!
7. huge LCD that's sharp, bright, and fast to update while panning
8. battery miser; with NiH rechargeables, i was able to get 85 shots where 25 used the flash
9. images get auto-rotated when taking a portrait
10. very quiet; no focus or zoom noise
11. LCD goes blank after a while of no use to conserve power
12. 2 movie modes; QVGA (320x240 @ 20fps) and VGA (640x480 @ 13fps);
Cons:
1. does not remember setting if you change them after you turn off the camera; but i've rarely had to tweek something to get a great image
2. 4 way navigation button is on the left and i'm a righty; so this is good for the lefty's; not really an issue, though!
3. can not disable digital zoom; but zoom indicator clearly shows the crossover point between optical to digital zoom

Strengths: The ease-of-use, number of features, low price, and quality of the photos make this an unbeatable bargain.

Summary: After about a year of research, I took the plunge and purchased a digital camera. I decided on a Kodak after using my brother-in-law's older model. After comparing the two cameras, I decided that the CX7530 had the best bang for the buck, and shouldn't have me needing to buy a "better" one anytime soon. I have to give HUGE props to Kodak for absolute ease of use. When I got this camera (yesterday) I didn't look at the owner's manual. I just started snapping away, using all of the settings. Uploading the pictures to the computer was extremely easy. I have been using the Microsoft Camera Wizard which is pretty much idiot proof. My HP computer has preloaded software, which I have been playing around with. So far I've taken about 36 pictures, all in "best" quality. I am absolutely amazed at the crisp clarity of the photos this camera takes. Scenery, pictures of people, animals, closeups of flowers--they're all amazing.

Strengths: Easy of use. Easy of reviewing pictures. Use of SD memory card. Use of AA batteries that are available almost everywhere.
Weaknesses: None noted so far.
Summary: I will be traveling overseas this spring & I wanted to be able to take digital snapshots and use a camera that used available memory technology and AA batteries. I selected the Kodak 7530 for these two main reasons. As a bonus I got a camera that is simple to use and has a great viewing screen - even in bright daylight.

Strengths: Very confortable in the hands. Sharp images.
Weaknesses: No case.
Summary: The 1.8" screen is very sharp and responsive. The camera looks and feels substantial yet it is lighweight. The Kodak brand provides a secure sense of photographic quality and dependability. It has rapid flash recharging and minimal delay in repeated shooting.
All in all a well rounded device that will supply clean and sharp pictures.
