Strengths: Solid puzzle game, good soundtrack, a few next skins, budget price
Weaknesses: Missing a few skins from the original, not much new content, frustrating for beginners
Summary: The original Lumines for PSP was one of the highlights of the system's launch, but coming to the PS2 two years later, it doesn't offer much that series fans haven't already seen at this point. The basic puzzle game play and music still work great though.
Fans of the original get a few new skins (tunes, background graphics, etc.), but there certainly isn't enough new content here to justify a purchase if you own the original. There are only a handful of play modes, and the lack of a tutorial (and a weak instructions booklet) can make Lumines difficult to pick up and play.
On the plus side, Lumines can take roughly an hour to complete one game, so it's perhaps better suited to a home console. Given that Lumines Plus hit retail stores at a mere $20 (and some places now have it for as little as $5) new, you'd be hard pressed to find a reason not to buy it if you're a puzzle game fan.
