Strengths: Cheap, uses the phone line as local network, so no extra wiring required.
Weaknesses: Getting the systems to "see" the device is the first challenge.
Summary: 2001-09-29 20:52:48 This product is conceptually cool, but not well built. I had troubles getting the system to see the device in the first place (even after Intel replaced one of the units because they can't seem to identify the problem, the replacement unit had the same problem). Two issues once you get connected: 1. The system almost always drops connections. I had a real difficult time trouble shooting this. Someone suggested that the frequency used for AnyPoint is the same frequency that's used for home alarm systems - this is still unknown. 2. When connected, don't expect it to fly like your primary system. It slows down both systems. Well, like I said earlier, conceptually valid, but look like Intel still has several versions to go before this becomes a true plug-and-play (AND workable) product :-(
