Strengths: Fast, light for size, screen res good for graphics
Weaknesses: The number "4" on key pad now skips and will have to be repaired after 2 weeks.
Summary: For the money this one is very hard to beat. Very Hard indeed. Vista will not run all programs from the XP generation. Keyboard problem with #4 on the number pad will need to be repaired after just 2 weeks of use. I am buying another DV9205 very soon so I guess I MUST be really impressed. Only time will tell what else craps out. HP is a good company. I also own electronic test equipment from HP (Distortion Analysers, Volt meters etc.) all of the highest of quality and mostly bullet proof. If you purchase a Dv9205us I think you will be amazed at what can be produced these days for so little money.

Strengths: 17" BRIGHTVIEW LCD SCREEN, WEBCAM, MICROPHONE, AMD Dual Core mobile processor, remote conrol, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
Weaknesses: Technique support is from India
Summary: This is an awesome laptop. 17" lcd widesreen is excellent for DVD, Game! The NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 is powerful enough for all applications and games I played. With remote control, you can hook the laptop to HDTV LCD Diplay, so you can enjoy high definition materials using remote control!!!

Strengths: 17"screen, webcam, lightscribe DVD burner
Weaknesses: offshore technical support
Summary: For a 17" screen this notebook is a relatively lightweight at about 7 pounds. I like the finish on this notebook because it cleans up real easy and there are no oily fingerprints left on the mousepad. The sound from the speakers is good and this notebook does not get too hot. The Lightscribe DVD burner is a nice feature allowing one to burn onto the surface of a DVD a label. Of course one needs to purchase DVD media that is Lightscribe compatible. Microsoft Vista is nice although I had a problem installing Quicken 2007 Premier. Apparantly Intuit did not make Quicken 2007 100% Vista compatible but they offer a fix on their support website. Overall I think that this notebook gives you a lot of bang for the buck when one can overlook the shoddy overseas tech support service.

Strengths: Solid performance, Bright and large screen
Weaknesses: Battery is not long enough
Summary: The laptop is loaded windows vista premium, the newest operating system, so I can enjoy the new features of vista. The hardware is also good. The dual core processor form AMD gives impressed speed in this laptop. I am a student, I use it to do matlab caculation, it spent only half time as the pentium 4 2.4G desktop for a complicated math caculation.
Other features I like include Integrated camera, media card reader and remote control. It is also an entertainment center.

Failed to quick
Strengths: I loved the 17" screen.
Weaknesses: The wireless stopped working after 1 year.
Battery does not last long.
Summary: When I bought the DV9205US, it had a conflict with the web camera drivers and caused the computer to fail to start all the time. Had to delete driver and reinstall. After using it for 17 months the wireless conection disapeared compeletly from the programs. Used it for 3 more months, then it would not start up at all. The laptop keeps trying to restart itself, but never starts. Contacted H.P. and they gave me things to try to fix my problems. Nothing worked and H.P. said send it back to them for free repairs. This was great to hear, but I bought it from a U.S. military (AAFES) store in Germany and had to pay to ship it to a person in the U.S.. H.P. service people were very helpful. Now I am waiting to get my laptop back from repairs. I hope it lasts longer this time.

Strengths: Beautiful 17" LCD, DVD Burner with LightScribe,
Weaknesses: 2GB RAM is max, right-side Shift key is small
Summary: I've had this laptop for 4 months now and am very happy with it overall. I bumped the RAM up to 2GB and it handles Vista just fine. The LCD display is VERY nice and at 17", quite large. If I could change two things they would be to have the RAM max out at 4GB instead of 2GB, but I know only Core 2 Duo machines are equipped for that; and secondly, I would increase the size of the Shift key on the right-side. It is smaller than normal and I am still getting used to it.

Strengths: 10-key number pad on the keyboard, screen size
Weaknesses: Heavy
Summary: This machine makes a great desktop replacement. I love the 10-key number pad. The screen is bright and clear. Carrying this machine around is a bit much though. Also the battery life isn't long due to powering the large LCD screen.

Strengths: Fast, solid, powerful!
Weaknesses: none
Summary: It is an amazing laptop. Speed is superfast! It is interagted with webcamera, microphone, remote control, card reader, and beautiful looking! It is a little heavy, however it is a 17" laptop, so I have no complain. I strongly recommend it!

Strengths: Very light, big wide screen, nice screen quality.
Weaknesses: Very brittle lock system, not well built. It looks like it might just snap and break. Slow speed, had to replace with 2 GB RAM.
Summary: We bought this when it just came out in the market. It is lighter than the Sony vaio we have, better bigger and clearer screen. We have windows vista and upgraded 2 GB RAM. Overall, very satisfied with the notebook. Would definitely recommend.
