 I have burned quite a few differnt brannded disks ... Strengths: Good Deal for the money. Writes at speeds advertised
Weaknesses: Tray action is sort of clunky. Not a big fan of included Nero Software
Summary: I have burned quite a few differnt brannded disks so far including generic one. NO problems as of yet. I mainly bought the drive because of a rebate offer. Probably wouldn't have paid full price fore it, but I can't complain.

Strengths: The product is exactly as described and at a good price. It hasn't made a bad DVD or CD yet.
Weaknesses: It's maximum write speed is 8X and 16X drives are already available.
Summary: I've used a Lite-On CD writer before and I found it to be reliable so I didn't hesitate to purchase the DVD writer. I've only used it with single layer DVDs, the double-layer are still a bit expensive. I've written both data files and home video files to discs that I've made with the drive and it's worked perfectly.

i liked the product but would rather get quality p ...
Strengths: burns quickly
cost effective
Weaknesses: makes too much noise (atleast for reading a disc)
Summary: i liked the product but would rather get quality product next time. The dvd/cd reading speed is OK but besides jsut making too much noise it also takes way too long to intialize the disc. not sure if i would buy it again. but what better dvd writer for only 40$? :)

Strengths: Burns flawlessly as advertised. Burns as expected easy to use came with Nero software which needs some help.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I have burned 4x TDK and 8x Fujifilm DVD disks so far. I have also burned cheap GQ CR-R's. No coasters yet. (knock on wood)

Strengths: Burns double layer dvd's, regular dvd's, and cd's
Weaknesses: slow double layer dvd burns
Summary: I think this might be one of the cheapest double layer dvd burners out there, in price that is, the quality is very nice. Comes with nero, nothing special there. Double layer media discs are slow to burn. Otherwise this is a great burner, and for the price you can't beat it.

Strengths: great software included, i've only had one DVD mess-up since I got it and it was my fault... very easy to use
Weaknesses: i wish it was black, and it has a somewhat variable writing speed sometimes... but you'll live
Summary: I liked it so much that I bought another one for my second machine! So far I have had no real complaints with this drive and I have used a few different (even cheap cheap) brands of DVDr and had no problem writing at full speed.

Weaknesses: Bad design
Summary: Do not buy this drive. This drive is completely the same hardware with the same company's older model, 812S.
812S can be updated into 832S and can has DL(Double Layer) recording, too. Only thing you have to do is firmware changing.
Buy 812S and save your 20 dollars. I did so, but I changed this into NEC2500A because of its bad design.

Weaknesses: Very noisy. if i had heard how noisey would of bought different one.
Summary: I have burned several tens of DVDs. All of them ended up very good... The speed is ok, about 15 min for a 4.7G DVD.I have had them all work

Strengths: Good product, and not expensive
Weaknesses: Not the fastest, but fairly good... A bit noisy though...
