Strengths: Detachable face plate, beautiful aesthetics, great audio, features galore
Weaknesses: Only has blue light/LCD, hard to reach FF/REV buttons
Summary: 2007-04-06 19:50:44 I bought this baby from C.C. when it was on sale and was pleasantly surprised. Not only is it gorgeous to look at when off and on, the audio modes after some tweaking produce some of the best sound possible. It has many audio tweaking features including Bass Boost, Crossover with selectable cutoff frequency (HPF), High frequency boost (proprietarily labeled PIE, custom 3-level two-way EQ's and the option to switch gate the lower frequencies to the rear speaker and/or Subwoofer(s). The sound is clean and transparent, unlike some Kenwood and Panasonic heads I have owned. It handles MP3 with ease, and its MP3 navigational system is intuitive if a bit primordial. The only negatives I have with this unit is that it has an undimmable blue glow/LCD that can be a bit bright at night, and that the buttons for common functions like FF/REV, radio station scanning and folder selection are very small (located on 4 sides of the big central button) and hard to reach while driving. Its MOSFET amplification power is also a bit underwhelming if you have any speakers bigger than 5.5" (subwoofers will need their own amps of course). But overall a nice surprise for an audiophile.
