Strengths: Huge capacity; decent footprint
Weaknesses: Cheap warranty
Summary: I was looking for an external hard-drive for my DVR box. It has a USB port, that will allow me to expand capacity. I didn't want to hack the DVR box in order to expand the storage capacity, so decided to "add on" instead. I plugged in the drive into the USB port, formatted it, and away I went. WOrked like a champ. It's silent operation, so it doesn't add to the noise in my living room. My only real knock is the lame 1-year warranty. Seagate offers a 5-year warranty on their external hard-drives, so Maxtor should follow suit (as they are owned by Seagate, afterall)!

Strengths: The 7200.10 Hard Drives are the FASTEST IDE interface Drives available, so if you want ATA/100 hard drives, this is totally for you. If your like me and want/need SATA, then look elseware.
Weaknesses: I received my drive yesterday, it was a PATA, Parallel ATA (not SATA) Seagate 7200.10 Hard Drive. The drive showed up as OEM (no warranty) by looking up the serial number.
Summary: I received my drive yesterday, it was a PATA, Parallel ATA (not SATA) Seagate 7200.10 Hard Drive. The drive showed up as OEM (no warranty) by looking up the serial number. This is in regard to the Maxtor OneTouch III 750GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive (One Touch 3).

Strengths: Have full back up features, that means it can restore your whole computer if it crashed or attacked by viruses/spywares. It also have restore point, rollback, and sync features.
Weaknesses: Your computer will freeze if you boot it with the drive turned on and connected to your comp. This is a bug. It's not as bad as it sounds though.
Summary: I've bought 2 of the Maxtor Drives so far and is planning to buy another one. I have the Maxtor 3 Onetouch (with full backup features) and the Maxtor 4 Onetouch (without full backup features). Both are USB only and with 750 GB each. These are great drives so far (had them for about 3 weeks max). I've did extensive research on external hard drives (6 months to be exact) before I've decided to buy the Maxtor drives. In terms of price, quality, features, and reliability, Maxtor drives seem to out rank the rest. The only minor problem is that it will freeze your comp if you boot it with the drive turned on and connected. The Maxtor 3 Onetouch is my first drive and it works great so far. If you buy any drive for the first time, please make sure that it has a long extended warranty. My Maxtor 3 only has a 1 year warranty but my Maxtor 4 has a 5 years warranty. Also, keep in mind of the noise level, the bright light, the speed(don't buy anything below 7200 RPM)and the heat generate by the drive. My two Maxtors have speed of 7200 RPM, no fan( thus no noise to deal with), generate very little heat even after long extended use, and the light can be fix with a piece of cardboard tape over it or turn it off. Hope this help.
