Strengths: Qualilty, Colors, printing speed, set up
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I"ve had my Epson Stylus 1400 printer close to 3 months, and I am amazed at the rich colors and quality of photos printed by my new printer. I had a picture printed by my neighborhood 1-hour photo print store and I printed the same picture at home using the Epson Stylus 1400 and their was no comparison, the Epson Stylus 1400, hands down, was a much better picture, the two pictures could have easily passed for haven been taken by two different cameras. I am so very happy that I chose to receive this printer as my Mother'd Day gift.

3 Star ReviewAffordable wide-format photo printer
Strengths: Price; Wide-format printing; Clear and crispy colors; Individual ink cartridges.
Weaknesses: Slow printing. Color gets a bit dark on low quality papers.
Summary: 2008-09-27 23:26:50 I purchased this printer to print out large size posters (13 by 11). There were only a couple of wide-format printers under $300 when I was on the market (I later found out that HP launched a new wide-format printer B8550 with LCD and card readers at $300). I preferred this Epson 1400 to HP B8350 because it has higher DPI and individual ink cartridges. Printing out tens of photos and posters, I have been somewhat satisfied with it but have a couple of concerns. First of all, when I printed on 4- or 3-star papers such as premium photo papers and photo papers, results tend to be a bit dark. Printing on 5-star papers such as ultra premium photo or luster papers gives perfect outcome. Besides, printing speed is really slow even when printing out black/white low-resolution documents. In sum, it is good for thouse who are looking for sub-$300 wide format photo printers, but not good for heavy users or document printing.

Strengths: Ease of installation. Instructions were precise and accurate. Quality of pictures printed is "off the hook"!!!
Weaknesses: I have only lbeen using the printer for a couple of days, but have yet to find any weaknesses.
Summary: I have been a HP Photosmart user for years. But after purchasing the Epson Stylus Photo 1400, I have become an Epson user. Quality of prints is "off the hook". Ease of installation. Instructions were precise and accurate. Another of the attributes for this printer is the cost of the inks which are less expenive then HP.
