polaroid pdc 2350 2.1 megapixel digital camera with 3x optical zoom
Strengths: inexpensive, lightweight
Weaknesses: short battery life, can't delete photos from camera
Summary: I bought this inexpensive camera for my 5 year old. It is a perfect size for kids with fair photo quality (good enough for kid's purposes). In contrast, I have a $1000 digital camera for myself, so my standards are a bit high. I was disappointed to see that we were unable to delete photos directly from the camera - I had to download them to the computer and delete them there. Considering that the provided memory card holds 37 photos, I'm having to download frequently. Also, the lithium AA batteries provided, were dead when I installed them in the camera, so I just put in regular AAs, and after my daughter filled the memory card for the 1st time, those batteries were dead too. I dont know if it would have made a difference if I had replaced them with lithium AAs (do lithium batteries last longer? I dont know). So I suppose I'll be replacing them often. If I had bought this camera for myself, I'd have been extremely disappointed, however b/c this is for a 5 year old I'm willing to accept it's drawbacks. Most important to remember.... you get what you pay for!
