compact thumb drives
Strengths: - small size
Weaknesses: - confusing markings
- slow
- hard to grip
Summary: These are nice small USB drives. Writing is fairly slow, so they are not the best choice if you are often in a hurry.
Maybe it's just me, but I always try to plug them in upside down, since they are marked "Kingston" on the bottom. The top has a not very obvious drawing of a moai (I think).
The drives are small enough that it is hard to get a grip on them if something else is plugged into an adjacent connector. They should have a better handle, or come with a lanyard.
I haven't tried the Migo software, so I won't comment on that. I couldn't find a detailed explanation of what it does, so I was afraid to install it.

Strengths: tiny size & cute
Weaknesses: slow performance, Not readyboost compatible.
Summary: The design and its size is really well built. Very cute to carry around. One thing I don't like about is the speed since I'm used to the sandisk titanium. Copying large files in vista shows about 3.5 MB/s. It's not too slow, but kind of slow for a modern USB drive. I still like it because of the tiny size. I got mine for $ 0.95 using google checkout so I'm really happy with my purchase.

Strengths: small
Weaknesses: speed
Summary: This product is very small and portable. Because of its size, it's also easy to lose, so make sure to attach it to your keyring or something. Its capacity is just average compared to many flash drives available in the market. This drive is OK for everyday data transfer, but not very good for permanent storage. You can't expect to store a lot of music or pictures in this drive. Data transfer is not as fast as my other drives.

Strengths: Very small, Kingston reputation.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: I purchased a digital picture frame for my wife for Christmas and when I was reviewing different frames one comment kept coming up... "The USB drive sticks out past the frame." I didn't think this was a big deal until I received the frame and plugged my standard (stick of gum) sized USB drive in. They were right... it does stick out like a sore thumb! I stumbled across this drive while searching for USB drives in PriceGrabber and purchased one. This drive "hid" perfectly behind my picture frame! I plugged this drive into my laptop and it was recognized and configured in a flash. I copied several photos and some mp3's, since the picture frame can play mp3's as well, and tried out the drive in the picture frame. It worked perfectly. This is all I intend this drive to do but I'm sure my wife will find all kinds of uses for it besides holding the family photos.
I am very pleased with my purchase and Kingston.

Strengths: tiny, Small, cute, works great, convenient
Weaknesses: fragile
Summary: I bought it about one week ago. It is a great deal for the price. It is cute and tiny and cool. I like the design very much. However, the fancy little slide-over piece that is supposed to protect the plug is really hard to click out of the open or closed positions. The cover only slides forward to the edge of the plug, so the front end of it is just as exposed as it would be without the cover.
The transfer speed is not as blazingly fast as the more expensive USB drives, but it's faster than some of the generic drives I have used. My friend love it and think it's adorable. A real upgrade from my old generic flash drive!
A great deal overall.

Strengths: Tiny, Cute, and no cap to loose
Weaknesses: Speed is not very fast, but still OK
Summary: I like my mini drive not only because it's very cute and tiny, also it's sliding cap make me not need to worry about losing it (Actually I did loose one on my old flash drive). It very easy to work with and I have no any problems about sliding the cap; however my huge friend does think it too tiny for him.
The speed of this flash drive is not as fast as I expected, but it's still OK for both of us.
I have it for almost two months and I am very happy with my purchase for about $5.

It is an interesting design.
Strengths: Tiny.
Weaknesses: No cap.
Summary: This is an insteresting design. It is tiny and it has an retractable cap. But I think this is also its weakness. Although I don't need to worry about losing cap, this retractable cap is not seal all interface and it wouldn't protest dust, sand etc.If it wouldn't protest interface, I don't understand why this cap is needed. Also it cost me $28 from buy.com , is it overprices?

Strengths: 1) Tiny (almost too tiny) 2) 1GB is a useful size 3) retractable connection mechanism is much better than a cover
Weaknesses: 1) It is almost too small... it would be easy to lose 2) The retractable connector is clever, but I feel weird pushing on the metal connector to close it. I'm a little afraid of zapping it with static
Summary: This is a great little drive, and, due to its small size, it has become my current favorite. It is almost too small in that it would be fairly easy to lose. However, as long as you keep track or it, you'll love it. 1GB is a pretty useful size as well, and it comes at a good price point.
Having a retractable connector instead of a cover is a great idea. However, unlike bigger drives that provide a slider for retracting it, for this drive you just push on the connector. That works fine but feels a little odd to do. So far that hasn't been a problem, but I do wonder what happens if you zap it with static while pressing on it.
Anyhow, this is a great product and I would definitely buy another... maybe the 2GB next time. :-)

Strengths: Very compact size, retractable cap/cover
Weaknesses: Average performance
Summary: The clear advantage of this drive is its compact size, being less than 1.5 inches long and less than 3/4 inches at its widest. The sliding cap is also nice. No separate cap to loosen and get lost. The small size also helps it's durability. One would have to actively try to damage it to do so. Of course, being so small, I suppose it could be easier to lose the drive than a larger one.
I have not done any scientific timing, but the speed of the drive is not exceptional. Don't look for ReadyBoost benefits with Vista. Again, the benefits of this drive are its size and ease of use.

Strengths: Tiny, builtin cap
Weaknesses: Not quick enough for ReadyBoost, only 1GB
Summary: This thumbdrive is just what you would expect from a major manufacturer like Kingston: reliable and functional. Its not the fastest on the market, or the smallest form factor, but it certainly gets the job done. If ReadyBoost isn't important to you, this USB drive will serve you well.

Strengths: Compact, unique design, attractive, synchronization software, cheap, no cap, Win2K/XP/MacOS10.x, 5 year warranty, USB2.0
Weaknesses: Seems fragile, no write protect, no support for WinNT/95/98/ME, no drivers/cable/lanyard, no data encryption
Summary: I bought this for very cheap (FAR) from a popular internet retailer (Buy). It is tiny, about 1 ¼” long x about ½” wide. It is plastic and has a sliding cover that retracts to expose the usb plug. It is kind of hard to slide the cover, but I like the design better than a typical usb drive which has a loose cap that can get lost. It is plug and play, like any other usb drive. Despite the manufacturer claim of no Win ME support, it was recognized in my Win ME desktop. It comes with Migo synchronization software loaded on it. I have not used this software and cannot comment on it.
On the negative side, the plastic sliding cover seems kind of cheap and I am concerned that it will break. It has no write protection and no data encryption like you might find on some usb drives. It does not come with a lanyard, but rather a string with a small ring on it, similar to other Kingston drives. While I will not use the string, the drive is so compact that a lanyard would probably be overkill.
Although it does not have some of the bells and whistles of a more expensive drive, it is a unique design and has some nice features of its own. I would recommend it, even if it were not FAR.

Kingston 1GB mini MIGO edition good portable gadget
Strengths: small, light weight, portable, migo software to sync PC, no cap design
Weaknesses: low transfer speed, the end has lanyard but kingston does not provide belt, no cap mechanism seems flimsy
Summary: I give this product a three star, I'm semi-satisfied with the product so far, it has some strength, but the biggest weakness is its transfer rate. As soon as I plug in the drive and transferred some large files (>100M), I noticed that it takes quite a while to transfer, later I tried the migo software to sync between my PCs, it also took a while to load the document settings stuff. Later when I was doing the rebate, on the Kingston rebate form I noticed that Kingston does NOT advertise it as high speed USB 2.0 flash drive. The drive utilizes a non-cap slide locking mechanism, which is good design to eliminate the hassle of losing the caps, but the locking mechanism is kind of flimsy (the sliding shell to protect the USB port has a very loose fit) and the constructions are all plastic, I’m afraid that after constant lock/unlock the locking tips will be broken…
One thing besides the size, the migo software is the reason why I gave this product a shot. The migo software is basically a sync program which can save all your windows settings (IE/firefox bookmarks, my documents, outlook emails, etc) on the flash drive, later load the personal settings to another PC. It's quite a convenient way to get all your PCs straight. Since it's a software based solution, I have to mention the U3 technology and the open source PortableApps(portableapps.com/...), these two basically provide a bunch of green softwares (yes they do take a large portion of drive space but since the drives are fairly large you are not going to use all the spaces anyway...) which do NOT require any installation so that you can run directly from the flash drive, and they are also kind of portable tweaked, which makes them run faster than those installed versions. The U3 technology is used on various flash drive brands, including Kingston, the PortableApps achieves the same functionality as U3 while adds more customization on the software and can be installed on any flash drives. Compare to U3 and PortableApps, migo takes another approach to emphasize on data synchronization, especially the whole windows environment. To me, the U3 and PortableApps are more valuable; migo is just not very useful, but you may find that syncing a complete windows environment in seconds is more valuable.
Final thoughts:
At this stage, a non USB 2.0 high speed flash drive seems to be quite old technology, I would NOT recommend this product to other people...

Small but slow
Strengths: Tiny
Weaknesses: Slow
Summary: Don't really know what else to say about this little item except that its size comes at the expense of performance. It all depends on your preference and how much you're willing to sacrifice for the compact size. It is less then 1.5 inches long and has a sliding mechanism that somewhat eliminates the need for a cap which is nice because those are inevitable lost. It has a point of attachment in the back for a keyring or lanyard but to be honest it looks rather flimsy so I would keep an eye on it.
As for speed, I haven't measured it but Windows Vista says it does NOT meet the criteria for ReadyBoost. This is a shame because those using ReadyBoost on a permanent basis would rather enjoy not having a bulky flash drive sticking out of their computer's USB port.
