Strengths: Auto-recaculate route! Large Hard drive with detailed map and POI! Movie & music player!
Weaknesses: A little bit slow response.
Summary: It is my first GPS, but it was great and I love it. It has a 20gb hard drive with 15gb map data. The extra 5gb can be used to store movie and music. That would be a lot of fun when you are waiting in the car. More important, it can auto-recaculate the route, when you drive to a wrong way. So don't worry about being lost with this GPS! Highly recommended!

Strengths: Auto Route recalculation; Decent User Interface; 20 GB Harddrive with lots of map & POI data; 5GB for storage of personal media (mp3 audio & avi video); mp3 audio quality is very good.
Weaknesses: Sometimes a little slow in acquiring Satellite signal.
A little bit bulky as this has a Hard Drive.
Summary: This is my first GPS navigation system, and I am very happy with it. I did upgrade to the latest firmware & database from the JVC site, and it has been very stable. The huge database of POI is a big plus. You can search for businesses, restaurants etc etc. It auto recalculates the route on the fly, which is nice. The built in mp3 player is really nice. It can play from a SD card, or you can store the mp3 files into the 5GB of hard disk space provided. It can also play avi files, but I have not tried them yet. It can also display your photos (jpg files). One weakness I see is that it is sometimes a little slow in acquiring the satellite signal, but once it gets the signal, it is pretty stable. Overall I am very pleased with this unit, and glad I bought it for $200.00.

Serves NO PURPOSE at all
Strengths: plays mp3, videos, low price
Weaknesses: Constantly LOses signal, Guidance INACCURATE, too CONFUSING
Summary: I bought this product becaue it was CHEAP. FOOLISH ME!! Right from the time I was a kid, I'd hear people say "if anything's too cheap, there's bound to be a catch". Exactly the case here and I was too lured by the low price to see reason. I was also assuming that since this is a JVC product after all, it is bound to be good due to the brand recognition. Boy, was I WROGN!
Basically, it constantly keeps losing the signal, even in subarban areas with zero tall trees, no tall bldgs. Once lost, it takes too long (20+ minutes) to recalculate. Voice guidance is inaccurate, it is difficult to precisely expalin what i mean (Example: it says "turn right in 300 feet when actually you should be turning right in about 25-50 feet") but trust me when i say this product is pure junk.
What you really need is a GPS that latches on to 12 satellites with WAAS. This uses very old technology, hence the signal loss and cheap price. Since this uses the old technology, it is simply unable to pinpoint the location of the car resulting in it being off by 250 feet on average.
I returned the product for a full refund. Other GPS devices with similar features (that have good reviews) are going for $475+. This is priced at $220. That's enough proof this product's JUNK.

Simply put, dont buy it
Strengths: great for about one month
Weaknesses: freezes, loses signal, wrong directions, very very slow
Summary: It worked great for about a month. most people leave a positive review hours after buying a product, use it for a month and it will freeze, typing an address into it takes about 10 minutes also flashes the word

Strengths: audio/ video feature, favourites
Weaknesses: heavy, slow response
Summary: I like the features: storing the favourite address, various display modes, good mounting, storing audio video files and playing in the normal operation mode. It also mutes lowers the music while giving the voice activated guide of the routes. It is really helpful for the trips. Overall I am liking it and nice to discover the features.

Strengths: Nice feature with voice over, able to lock onto 8 satellites at once, WAAS
Weaknesses: Only able to lock on to 8 satellites as once, often loses connection, not good support
Summary: This was reasonably priced and obtained from a vender when there was a huge discount, so it was worth the money. Compared to the Garmin c330, the other unit I use, it can only receive an "ok" favorable review.
The unit is small and will mount in the front window of most vehicles, and does give accurate directions, and it does last 4 hours on a charge. You are able to update the maps when thy are appropriate, and it does have millions of points of interests (gas stations, shopping malls, airports), etc, that are not available on competitor units, so these are all good things. The unit is small and unobtrustive, and generally you think "JVC" great. Well, that isn't the whole story.
The real problem is that while the technology enables WAAS (Wide Area) for more accurate location with the GPS system, this unit will constantly lose satellite reception even when driving in open cities with no buildings very close, trees overhead, or other obstacles (philadelphia). Although the directions are accurate, if you miss a turn, it takes LONG time to recalculate directions, which forces you farther out of the way or you find yourself slowing down, waiting for it to tell you what to do, which makes this dangerous.
It can often take 4-5 minutes at start up to EVEN lock on to enough satellites (it needs 3 at least) to give you an accurate location of where you are, which can be very frustrating. The unit is nice, but is a little awkward. If you can get this at a steep discount, it is worth the price if you can handle the above problems stated. IF you cannot find this at a steep discount, go with a competitor and save yourself some of the definite headaches this will cause. Because I got this at a great price (a "steal") it gets 4/5 for price:performance.
