Strengths: Well-built Many configuration options Can change any of the other 4 disks while the 5th is playing Plays any DVD+-R/RW I threw at it, including the cheapest Plays images, mp3, and CDs
Weaknesses: Limited "multi-function" remote Unable to listen to random songs among the 5 disks, only random with the current disk. Can't play mp3s on DVD.
Summary: I wanted a new DVD player that would play a variety of different DVDs including cheap DVD+Rs that I used to backup Disney movies for my children (they've already ruined one Disney movie, so I didn't want other originals to get ruined). After creating backup copies of almost all of our DVDs, I found that they didn't play in our old DVD player. The media I used was too cheap. But this player will play them all without a problem.

For the money, I believe this is the best DVD Changer on the market today. I did a lot of research and the only other one that seems OK is a Panasonic DVD Changer for the same price, but I read that it doesn't play DVDs recorded with DVD XCopy (which I use to backup my DVDs).

Be sure to check the configuration options and don't just go through the quick setup. The default setting for my tv was much too dark. After going through the setup, I found a few options that changed the brightness level and that made the view much better. The picture and sound is actually better than my old dvd player, which I was surprised by.

As others have said, be aware of the depth of this unit. It was too deep for my entertainment center. I had to cut out the back (no easy task) and even then it still barely fits.

Overall, I highly recommend this product, especially for the price

Strengths: Quality of playback Ease of use Value
Weaknesses: Noen
Summary: I bought this DVD player to replace a 3 year-old Sony that would no longer play DVDs all the way through. So far I am very happy with its performance. I had been waiting for one of the earlier Sony Progressive Scan changers to go on sale, but when this was released at a lower price point I new it was the one I wanted. It has played everything I have put in it flawlessly and it has many features that my previous model did not have. It was very easy to set-up and use. So far so good...

Strengths: Quality Picture and Sound.
Weaknesses: None Yet.
Summary: I've recently upgraded from a standard TV set and 4 year old DVD player to an HDTV and this particular Sony DVP-NC675P/B 5-Disc DVD Player. Set-up was a breeze with the on-screen menu. The difference in the picture quality is astounding! If you recently purchased an HDTV, one of the most important upgrades to your home theater has to be a progressive scan DVD player. This Sony is a great value for under $150.

Strengths: Quality Construction, Excellent sound quality, Easy to use, Plays CDs/DVDs in poor physical condition
Weaknesses: Does not shuffle (random play) across all 5 discs. The shuffle and repeat button is not present on the remote.
Summary: Audio: The audio output from this player is of excellent quality.

Video: The video output from this player is of good quality. I did not see any difference between the normal seeting and the progressive scan setting.

Menu: The menu is driven by a on-screen display. The disadvantage of this is that to do a shuffle or a repeat function, you will have to switch on the TV and then follow the menu. It would have been convenient if there was a shuffle and repeat button the remote.

Missing Feature: The player does not support shuffle across all 5 discs. Therefore you cannot use it as a Jukebox with random play.

Strengths: Very good quality picture and sound
Weaknesses: The remote receiving area is blocked when the tray is over unless you are on the right side of the unit
Summary: I am very happy with this DVD unit and the over all proformance and its appearence. I can see a big difference in the picture on my HDTV using the progressive scan.
