Strengths: Large screen, wireless headsets, TV tuner, travel kit, car adapter doubles as FM transmitter
Weaknesses: Sound quality on speakers, numbered channel buttons on remote not working
Summary: 2006-12-13 06:58:17 We bought this player for a recent road trip, and the kids loved it. The sound quality from the detachable speakers was not the best, but the included wireless headsets worked really well. Audio over the car's radio worked great also.
We abandoned the recommended travel kit set up after the first day and went with our own rigging because the player hung too low between the front seats of the minivan. The harnessing is detachable from the case, which made customization of the rigging very easy.
The player comes with a handy travel case that makes removal simple. There's even a folding stand to prop up the player while it's in the case. We're using it in the kitchenette area now as a secondary TV for the kids.
The problems with the remote haven't been brought up with Audiovox yet, but it works fine except for the numbered channel buttons.
(update) The button problem was a user error I guess. You need to have the player scan the available channels before the buttons will work. Not sure why, but when we did this, the channel buttons became active.
