Linksys 802.11G MF Print Server USB

It works

Strengths: It works. I can print from three of my computers to my Epson RX580. Two of the computers run Vista and the other runs XP.

Weaknesses: I believe the multifunction aspect of the product means the user should be able to use the scan function via wireless also. I had no luck be able to make this function workthrough the print server.

Summary: The product serves my function to print from multiple computers to a centrally located printer. Configuration was not easy. I'm no tech geek, but I'm not a complete novice either. The Linksys setup CD did not work well. The Linksys chat support was very friendly and cordial, but not overly helpful. I told the chat support staff the specific problem and they could not help. I surfed the Linksys User Forum and a post stated that the installation CD had some problems and to download new drivers. I downloaded the drivers and installed the Win 32 utility. It worked like a charm and installation was easy after that point.

One more thing I was trying to get my old Linksys wireless print server to work with Vista. I was told by the Linksys chat line that the old print server is not compatible with Vista. After buying the new Linksys product and then checking out the Linksys forum I found multiple posts in the forum stating how to make the old product work with Vista.

Added bonus...you can place the printer anywhere....my fat cat was sniffing the printer so I printed a page. I'm sure it took one of his lives.

Linksys Print Server - Multifunction

Strengths: Easy setup. Small unit.

Weaknesses: Needs to be rebooted once so often. Interacts with my regular wireless router.

Summary: Bottomline it works. Connected it to my HP multifunction unit and it works. Prints, Scans and also able to access the flash card drive on the printer. You need to ensure your printer software has option to install it wireless otherwise it will not be able to scan.

Sometimes, it looses its communication with the printer. Both printer and router needs to rebooted. Wireless signal sometimes interacts with my wireless router.

Good product and definately an upgrade from the older print server. Tried two other wireless print servers from well known manufacturers and this is best you can get.

WiRELESS ALL-IN-ONE PRINT SERVER

Strengths: Wireless printserver, all-in-one printer supported

Weaknesses: none

Summary: I was looking for a good print server for my hp 3055 all-in-one laser printer. I read a lot of stories on web about how difficult and unreliable these devices were. However. I was very surprised at how well written the instructions were and how quickly I was printing from both of my PC and laptops. (if you have secured your home network, make sure you have your WEP key before you start. You will need it and your router login and password to set up this print server). You can check the compatibilities for your printers on linksys.com
