Strengths: viewsonic is a leading brand, very high quality with a 3-year warranty.
Weaknesses: hard to reproduce fine detail, some colors are off
Summary: i just purchased the viewsonic vg-150 FP LCD display. I usually use my computer (athlon xp1800+) for web surfing and email.

The differences between a CRT monitor and an LCD are amazing. The LCD occupies 1/4 of the space my 15" CRT monitor did, and uses much less electricity. I live in an apartment so space is an important issue for me. Also the weight is about a third as much for an lcd monitor this size. The viewable area is comparable to a 17" CRT.

there are some shortcomings though. The dot pitch is .297, quite a bit les resolution than the typical .24-.21 dot pitch on a CRT. Very fine lines in drawings etc can be fuzzy at times. Also the colors (darker ones mostly) tend to wash out and are not as accurate as a CRT. This is an important issue for gamers but for web surfing and the like the tradeoff is not an issue and well worth it. Another issue is price. LCD 15" monitors are in the 329.00 - 500$ range. The CRT monitors in the 17" size can be had for 250. I bought mine for 429.00 before the 100$ mail in rebate. I couldnt find one cheaper. The dot pitch and screen resolution is as good or better than the others i considered (KDS, SONY, KOGI, and HP)

overall I feel happy with my viewsonic VG-150 for the price I paid and I would do it again for sure. There is a three year warranty, the best i could find in the LCD's. this is a great monitor and I will enjoy it for a long time.

Strengths: Solid and very reliable, has worked well even for gaming.
Weaknesses: Minor adjustments needed to sharpen image, easily corrected by adjusting screen size.
Summary: I've been using this monitor for several years for both work and gaming, and found it to be very reliable. It's less expensive than other LCD monitors, but I have not had a single problem with it since we took it out of the box. It is light enough to move around with one hand and the screen is bright and clear. No pixel problems, no ghosting problems...it's been great. A very good monitor overall.

Strengths: This is one of the best Flat panel units I have ever owned. The unit itself is small with a large viewable screen. It gives the appearence of a 17" monitor.
Weaknesses: none.
