Strengths: beautiful design, clean lines
excellent colors
Weaknesses: expensive
Summary: well, I tried Princeton and Dell before purchasing this widescreen lcd...colors on those two was awful. I need very accurate colors and only this Apple could deliver (unless I wanted to pay thousands of dollars for some high-end monitor).
I finally decided to pony up the cash and pay for a good monitor for design. If you're just surfing the net or doing spreadsheets, then any other monitor will do, but when color is critical, then get this.

Strengths: Crisp, bright, relatively even toned from edge to edge. USB and Firewire ports at back. Responds well to color managed calibration, excellent viewing angle. Very sexy.
Weaknesses: No telescoping base to raise or lower display but its not really that big a deal
Summary: I looked at the current field of 20" LCDs and now that Apple has lowered the price of this display it is really an amazing bargain. There is really no compromise here, it is an excellent display. Make sure if you calibrate the display that you disable the side brightness buttons using the software preferences as it is too easy to accidentally touch those buttons when changing the tilt angle of the display.

Strengths: design and performance
Weaknesses: none
Summary: These monitors look great and perform fantastic. The aspect ratio is very natural, as opposed to the typically more square monitors. The resolution is fantastic, and the few touch-sensitive buttons on the side of the unit keep it stylistically clean. This unit thankfully had absolutely no dead or stuck pixels--which is one of the most important things to look out for in flat screen monitors because you often need a cluster of them before an MFR will accept a return due to it. (The dirty secret of the LCD monitor industry....you don't find that out until it's too late.) I'd buy this monitor again without hesitation....especially since it will work wither either PC or Apple/MAC.

Strengths: BEAUTIFUL, 17" Length (Very Wide), Thin Frame, Brilliant Color, 2 Firewire + 2 USB ports behind monitor.
Weaknesses: Screen size is 10.75" tall. If it was 1/4" taller, you could place two vertical 8.5x11 sheets snugly on the screen (to compare a design to an actual size of paper)... barely lacking the needed space.
Summary: 2004-08-28 06:00:22 I was told that these monitors get extremely hot to the touch after consecutive hours in use (because they lack ventilation openings). I have worked on this computer for at least 10 hours straight-it gets warm, but not hot. I don't believe this should be a problem.
I am a graphic designer and I ordered Apple's new 20" LCD about a week after the WWDC announcement. I was extremely hesitant to pay more than $1000 for a monitor–I thought, "I could by another computer instead of a fancy monitor!" However, I am very grateful that I bought the monitor because the monitor is the great factor in "making or breaking" your computer. It is what connects me to my computer and I will be proud to stare at this beautiful monitor for the next decade (if it lasts that long).
I'm VERY GLAD THAT I PURCHASED THIS MONITOR. I do not regret this purchase. It is worth the high price.

Strengths: Excellent LG panel and beautiful design
Weaknesses: Pricey, only 1 input, only brightness adjustments on the display
Summary: 2005-12-27 23:02:46 This and the Dell 2005 both use the same LG panel - but the build quality (and price) are worlds apart. The Apple is beautifully designed with a single cable for power, DVI, USB and firewire. It's as beautiful to look at off as it is on.
Lighting is fairly even, colors are good - the later being a given since it is an S-IPS panel.
The cons - expensive, twice as much as the Dell 2005 on a good day. Only 1 DVI input (this might irk those with a laptop and desktop). No adjustments on the display except for brightness. Scaling and a few image options like color temp would have been nice. Granted, much of this can be done in software and but it should be present on a $800 monitor.

Strengths: Beautiful picture!
Weaknesses: Will not display bios during boot up on my PC.
Summary: This is an absolutely beautiful picture. The quality and design are incredible. I bought this to use with my PC via the DVI input. Fast response time. This is an expensive investment, but worth every penny!

Strengths: Excellent picture, beautiful (and very functional) design.
Weaknesses: Expensive.
Summary: Deep rich colors, great contrast, better than any CRT monitor I've used. I like everything about this monitor except the price tag... but than again, I paid for it, so I guess I can't complain.

Strengths: Great design, materials, screen, etc. One of the best out there, if not the best.
Weaknesses: Doesn't seem to like to USB interface well with a PC.
Summary: Great design, materials, screen, etc. One of the best out there, if not the best. Only problem I've seen so far is it seem to like to USB interface well with a PC. Maybe this is user error. Regardless, this is just a brilliant monitor, do yourself a favour and try one out.
