1 Star Review Dimension E521 This is a bait and switch deal
Strengths: AMD CPU
Weaknesses: Not getting what is advertized
Summary: I couldn't help but notice when I was checking out this system that when you go to the Dell site they are offering a different CPU.In this add they say its a Athlon 64 3400,When you go to the Dell site they start it out as a Athlon 64 3200. And don't even offer the 3400. These are the same pactice that they were using when I went there back in Nov 2006 and I called the company at that time and told them of these differences.I was assured at the time that this was a printing problem at the advertized source and they would take care of it.Well here it is almost 4mo. later and the same thing is going on with pactically that same computer - the Vista. It unpractical to do this kind of switching and possibly illegal also so be warned that this is a continualing practice being done at the Dell site.

1 Star ReviewMy horrible experience with Dell
Strengths: That it has a chance of working?
Weaknesses: Many
Summary: In my MANY experiences in Dell, it started off with just horrible customer services and hour long phone calls with punching in millions of numbers and listening to the dreadful "hold" music. Then, it ended with outrageous charges, horrible quality computer components and machines, and unbelievable interest fees when I qualified for no interest.

And what can Dell do about this? Nothing.

I started out buying a cheap Dell computer for my daughter. It came later than expected with the wrong size hard drive and no backup Cd's. I called (being on the phone for over an hour listening to dreadfully music with interruptions of extremely loud operator recordings) and spoke to a Dell Customer Service Representative who I could barely understand. The problem was kind of resolved. Then, for my company, I chose Dell instead of Gateway because Dell had cheaper prices on the items I was going to buy and no interest on most of them. I bought eight basic Dell computers (512 GB RAM, 80 GB hard drive, etc), two computers with higher quality specifications (2 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive, etc), two basic laptops, one really nice laptop with great specifications, 6 external hard drivers (3 of them were 500 GB externals and 3 were 160 GB portable hard drives). All external hard drivers were from Western Digital. I had NO problem on any of those external, but MANY problems on EVERY computer from Dell.

I reformatted every hard drive, so that there was no Dell crap on there and only what I wanted. I had everything from horrible customer service, to outrageous interest fees on everything when I qualified for no interest, and I spent HOURS on the phone almost every week trying to get everything situated. I paid for On Call, In Home, 24 Hour service and each time, they told me that it would be easier to send the machines back. I did that a FEW times, which was a terrible business lost for my company.

Then, I decided to DEMAND a Dell representative to come to my house. We made an appointment for him to look at my computers on three different occasions and they never showed up to ANY of the appointments. I waited all day each day. HORRIBLE customer service. JUST HORRIBLE. 90% of my issues were never resolved and I ended up hiring a reliable college kid who was majoring in computer science. He is excellent.
