Strengths: Relatively fast satellite aquisition Great price Works just like the Nuvi/Street Pilot Garmin Online Weaknesses: Very much an "automotive" unit. Some actions not very intuitive. Summary: Let me say that the free Garmin Online service included in the Mobile XT software is very cool. I know my way to work but I use this thing every day just to get the traffic info from Garmin Online along my route. I'm using the unit and software with my Cingular 8125. I had a few problems getting it to load the bluetooth files but after I did a hard reset the installation worked flawlessly. Works great on the phone in landscape or portrait mode. It has been excellent! I use this on an HP Ipaq hx2415 running Windows Mobile 5. For the price, this is a great add-on to my device. I can easily route to contacts in my address book, or find stores and just about anything I would need. The maps are very accurate, and the easy to use GUI makes the product more enjoyable. On such a small screen as a PDA has, The software makes it easy to find everything that you need with little hassle. The battery life is amazing 20+ Hrs! Included is a car charger, so I don't think there is anywhere you would drain the battery dead. It also includes a belt clip for portable travel. Excellent receiver with long battery life. Weaknesses: Need to carry two items for GPS capability: receiver and PDA or laptop. Summary: I really like this receiver. I tried both the Tomtom Navigator 6 and this Garmin Mobile 10, and they both work very well, but I really like the interface of the Garmin, especially since I have a Nuvi 350 and I am already familiar with it. This is very easy to set up, the only thing that is confusing to me is the unlocking process where you need so many unlock codes, registration codes, serial numbers, but I just inputted them all and it worked. The connection is superb and the GPS finds satellites quickly. It is working flawlessly so far and I really like it. I have only tried it on my Windows Mobile 6 hx2495 PDA, so I can't comment on laptop use (even though I find it difficult to imagine driving while looking at a laptop on a seat). Performs well! Tells you the gas prices and hotel rates of nearest places. Connects to my pda quickly and gets the satellite fix within a couple of seconds. Mapping software is very good. Garmin software is excellent and the maps are the best. plus they update it frequently and it works on Palm as well as windows mobile. SOftware has lots of features, even better than their AIO units like Nuvi. only thing i wish it had was a auto-on feature when the bluetooth device comes in range. hopefully Garmin will add that in a future update.
