Strengths: Screen size, price, number of inputs, resolution, response time, built in usb ports, additional features.
Weaknesses: No DVI cable, below average warranty, some backlight bleeding, sensitive buttons.
Summary: I purchased this monitor on clearance recently from a local office supply store. Its by far the best monitor I have owned, and the price I paid is on par with a smaller LCD with fewer features.
.
It has a 22” 16:10 screen with a 1680x1050 pixel resolution, a 700:1 contrast ratio, and a 5ms response time. That is large enough to view several things simultaneously, with a resolution that would support 1080p HDTV viewing and a response time that is fast enough for gaming. It supports a variety of inputs including composite, component, S-video, DVI, and VGA, and supports PIP so you can view 2 inputs at once. It also has 5 USB ports built in. Instead of the normal control buttons, this monitor has touch-sensitive buttons built into the right bezel that are lit with blue leds and work with an on-screen menu to allow the user to control the monitor settings. The buttons take a little getting used to but work fine once you are used to them.
.
On the negative side, it comes with only a 1 year warranty, I was expecting a 3 year warranty. It did not come with a DVI cable, I was expecting one and had to go out and purchase one. Some users complain of backlight bleeding – I found this to be a minor issue on my monitor, barely noticeable when the screen was black and not noticeable at all when the screen was lit.
.
To summarize, I am very happy with the monitor, I think it’s a great deal if you can find it for the right price. I would recommend it and would definitely buy it again if I needed one.
