Strengths: Nice picture quality, great sound
Weaknesses: None, except if you pay too much
Summary: I got this because they are being cleared out due to incompatibility with the newer iPod models. Originally priced at 3 or 4 hundred dollars, this thing was a bargain for about $50. It plays video wonderfully, and the sound booms out of the speakers when playing music. I was going to sell my old iPod, but when/if I do upgrade, now I'll keep it and just watch video. Everything was well designed and placed on this player, and I probably wouldn't change a thing. I just can't imagine spending as much on it as I did my iPod. I certainly recommend picking one up if you have the opportunity.

 BUYER BEWARE! Strengths: BUYER BEWARE!

Summary: BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT MAKE A PURCHASE PRODUCT This company is out of business. This website does not have a telephone number (or an address so you cannot) contact customer service. I tried to purchase a battery and found out that Sonic Impact is OUT OF BUSINESS! You may find the last of their products on Amazon.com I cannot get a battery for this and Sonic Impact does not work without one, making this an expensive piece of junk!

Summary: 2008-10-28 00:05:13 I do not recommend this product. I have not been able to get the video screen to work since I purchased it. The instructions that came with the product don't help. It almost appears that I need an additional connection piece that is impossible to find.

Summary: This ipod player has excellent performance working with my ipod. The display screen is big and you do not need to recharge the battery all the time, The sound quality of this ipod player is also great. I will recommend this ipod player.

Strengths: Very good, sturdy unit. The sound is excellent (MUCH better than I expected)!
Weaknesses: Shiny, glossy inside face that too easily shows smudges and fingerprints.
Slow reaction to button imput including turning on the unit. Seems to work a little better using the very small remote.
Summary: I have a black 5th generation video ipod that I use for movie entertainment on flights but have been limited to only 2-3 hours of use per battery charge. Combined with this player I not only have the additional 5 hours of video time but a bigger screen that can be shared with traveling companions. (I haven't tested yet that I can actually get the full additional 5 hours promised.)
It also looks great with the black ipods. Almost like one unit.
I've also used it around the house as a portable ipod speaker and I think the sound is very good. In addition to music I listen to audio tapes and there's no noticeable hissing or distortion at a higher volume.
It has an extremely small remote control that stores in the base but I'm afraid it might pop out too easily and get lost.

Summary: This is a pretty good product. Portable, easy to use, big 7'' LCD screen, good performance in both video and sound. It includes everything you need in the package. You definitely need one when you are on a trip. I highly recommend this product. Go get one when it is on clearance.

Summary: I bought this on clearance for $50 and at that price, it's great value. Th sound and video are really good, and the unit looks pretty sleek. I think someone noted that it's best used with the remote. I'm wondering, with only a 7" screen, why is there even a remote, when it's probably sitting right in front of the user when in use...

Strengths: The sound is amazing. The video is great. The build is solid.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: This portable player is very nice build device. To my surprise, the sound is incredible. I even used it to play PS2 on my road trip. The only problem is it can't play video with new generation ipod and iphone (requires another $50 cable from apple). It is not sonic impact's fault. It is apple's fault. They want to kill the third party market.

Strengths: Compact, well-built, large screen, good sound
Weaknesses: battery cannot last long
Summary: This is a nice player for the old version ipods. For the new version ipods, an adapter is needed. It is well-built, and I love the good pictures and sound. There is a carrying case coming with it, which is quite a bonus. The price used to be high, but now you can get it at a bargain. The only thing I am not quite satisfied is the poor battery life.

Strengths: Great quality for low price- Excellent picture quality, surprisingly good sound, easy to use. fully functional remote control.
Weaknesses: Only works with 5th generation iPod video unless you have an adapter. Other than that, this thing is great!
Summary: Been looking for a decent priced portable DVD player, then I saw this. Why carry around a DVD collection when you can store em all on your iPod & use them in the Sonic V-55!! Not only does it have great picture quality on a 7" screen, but the sound quality is excellent also. Not only that, but it can also be used solely as a portable speaker system- its like a portable entertainment system! Also has video out, video in, & headphone out capabilities for that extra functionality that is always an added bonus.
Excellent product, great price compared to other products with similar specs, all-in-all great purchase. Highly recommend.

Strengths: Very good construction, quality build. Audio is better than expected.
Weaknesses: Low quality screen resolution.
Summary: I bought this to use as an auxiliary screen display, but was very surprised at the high quality of audio that this Sonic Impact V55 outputs. The 7 inch screen is good but not the best. I used it connected to my Zune 30gb and also a Klegg Media Center. The picture is adjustable using the menu for brightness, contrast, sharpness, and color intensity. The Sonic Impact probably works best with the small remote, which stores inside the viewer's cavity. The A/V cable is real short but useable, and the ac adapter is only about 3 feet long. The auto battery adapter is included and a nice feature. In other words you get everything you need with the viewer and it's not necessary to buy anything else. I am well pleased with this purchase.

Strengths: big screen, pretty good audio
Weaknesses: poor battery life! blue screen while playing music
Summary: got these speakers on clearance at buy.com. I paid 39.99 and let me say it out loud, a great deal for a great product, but sold by a horrible company (buy.com) The speakers didn't have the best instructions but after some playing around, I was able to connect my ipod and have a decent video feed. The screen is 7 inches and displays normal video nicely, but action or high definitions fans might not like it as much as a regular user. The main con, in my opinion is the battery life, less than 4 hours, enough for a short hop but not enough for a transcon or Europe flight! The screen defaults to a generic blue when playing music and I wasn't able to find any option to change it, I don't like spending hours on small details haha Overall the design is elegant and people find it hard to believe that it only costs $40. This is a great backup audio/video system and is a must for any road warrior with tons of movies on their ipod. (Just as long as you are near a power outlet!) Overall 4 out of 5!

Summary: This is a great little gadget to have if you have a previous generation ipod, not the latest one, since the video is not compilable.
The build is very good, and sound good, great thing to have on travel. However, the battery life sucks.

Summary: I got this item about couple of days ago and I absolutely love it. Great picture, great sound, could have a nicer carrying case to come with it. However, The V55 battery doesn't provide power to the ipod. The ipod battery drains as the V55 system is being used.
