Strengths: Very good customer service, somewhat rugged case
Weaknesses: Durability is questionable, dust gets into the case
Summary: 2007-07-30 12:47:40 XtremeMac MicroShield Clear Case - for Apple iPod 2nd Generation Nano case is a very good case.
It takes lots of abuse as mine is scratched and scuffed up but the nano is untouched.
The main issue has to do with durability!
So far, the belt clip snapped off within a few months of purchase and use. The company was nice enough to send a replacement case (btw... KEEP the old case but toss out the old clip which I should have done but did Not)!
Now, I dropped it and the case cracked somewhat on the left corners when facing it. There is a gap in the gas, enough so sometimes the Nano would literally slip out the bottom of the case.
The first case was dropped but never suffered any damage though the belt clip snapped! I received a replacement but this time, the case cracked as it fell.
Wished I kept the old case as I could have just swapped the clip and everything would be fine!
Also wished the case would be tight enough to keep out the dust but it does NOT so regular cleaning is necessary especially if one uses the Nano during exercise!
The click wheel cover is not that sensitive and sometimes it is though it's usually the former.
It's difficult to find at stores and somewhat difficult to find online but performing a search does provide results of who is selling the microshield. The company itself sells the product but usually it's less expensive buying from an online reseller.
Lastly, there are 2 cases available.... one for the 1G and another for the 2G Nano. Both are different! The 1G has a zig-zag-looking mark if you look at it through the box. The 2G does Not have that mark!
Received email reply from company stating that a replacement will be sent. Love it when a company ships a free replacement as part of the warranty!
