Strengths: low cost for output, fair sound quality
Weaknesses: not much output to work with, low power
Summary: All in all they sound good, but I had to buy two just to keep up with my listening habbits. If you don't listen to that loud of music and are still after a clean sub, this could be for you.

Strengths: Very strong bass - clear - powerful - shakes my house.
Weaknesses: None that I've heard.
Summary: I am amazed at the difference this subwoofer has made to my home theater sound. From the very first rumble I was so impressed I wondered how I'd ever lived without it (having relied on 15-inch full-sound speakers until now). I've spent the past several days re-watching all off my DVD movies just for the experience.

I suppose a system will sound better somehow with a more expensive subwoofer - but for home theater use this subwoofer is ideal and a real thrill. I would recommend it to anyone. I would even go so far as to say, if you don't already have a subwoofer - get one - NOW!

Strengths: Solid bass with adjustable level and cutoff frequency. Power save is automatic and nice extra that every subwoofer needs.
Weaknesses: None that I have found in one year.
Summary: This is an affordable subwoofer that has all the basic features you need and the sound is very good. I appreciate being able to adjust cutoff frequency and level to optimize the bass to my listening preference. The automatic power save is an essential feature and shuts the main amplifier into a low power state until an audio signal is applied. This means the unit is auto on/off when your TV power is controlled by a remote. A nice feature that any serious subwoofer should have. Sony quality is apparent although there are likely better sounding subwoofers at a significantly higher price.
