Calber GPS
Strengths: It is OK unit. Most time works OK.
Weaknesses: Sometimes it crashed. Somewhat confusing to add address to the unit .
Summary: GPS works OK. But, when I got the unit, voice guidance did not work, and to make it work, map SD card needs to upgrade (actually re-install using DVD) to have voice guidance. So far the unit crashed two times and all of those was happened when I looked for the address that is out of its data base. Other than that, it works OK and I do not have any problems. Sometimes, the unit shows we are not in the street that we were and it showed wrong address. I think this is because of the accuracy of the GPS and the outdated map not from this particular unit. Well, I will update if there is something more.

Strengths: Extremely affordable and very easy to use. My experience in just a couple of days, indicate that this device is dead on when finding your desired location.
Weaknesses: Short battery life, but most people will be using this with external power.
Summary: I believe you'll agree that this device compares to many GPS units that cost twice as much. I would recommend looking for external battery power if you need to use while hiking.

Caliber P3600 - NOT recommended
Strengths: Good feature set at a reasonable price
Weaknesses: See below
Summary: All,
I purchased this product and found following issues:
1) Too slow to respond in San Francisco area
2) 50% of times it complains that SD card is not inserted properly, however, in reality it is inserted. You then have to take it out and re-insert and restart.
3) One has to go through long process for adjusting the volume
4) One has to accept the terms every time this unit is started
5) Customer service requires one to leave a message and the response is not prompt.
6) Finally, I have not received the promised rebate of $30.00
Conclusion, if you value your $$, do NOT buy this unit.

Caliber P3600 GPS Good News/Bad News
Strengths: Price/customer service/upgraded software/maps available.
Weaknesses: Customer service/routing not as good as Garmin/few, inconvenient POIs compared to Garmin i3/5. Bulky, clumsy mount.
Summary: Customer service is easily reached (needed software/map update to stop blue screen of death when forcing re-routing), but when battery stopped charging they merely replaced battery and did not check the charging circuit itself and returned the 'repaired' unit, which lasted until the battery ran down. They then replaced the whole unit, but only after losing it in the warehouse for about a month and then returned it without the 12v cord, saying I hadn't returned it and refused to replace it (I'm using an old Magellan cord now). Recalcs are a bit slow, but it draws a line on the map between the current location and destination, so you generally know what to do anyway. Unfortunately, you can't see the line during daylight. POIs are very limited and hard to access compared to i3/5. Announces (text to speech) interstate hiways. Will get you where you want to go with it's large bright screen which shows a compass needle, GPS strength, total mileage, Next turn mileage and direction, current street and town, and ETA.
Good value, but not great.

GPS, what GPS?
Strengths: Compact, cheap.
Weaknesses: Zero customer support/service, slow CPU, cannot triangulate possition.
Summary: I bought this unit on sale with $60 in rebates, so for about $100 after rebate how can you go wrong at this price point, right? For starter the GPS function does not work. I can only seem to make this unit work as a digital map. The load time is slow, which you have to get used to. Also, the UI isn't entirely intuitive. It will take you a while to learn how to navigate the sub-menus etc. Caliber has voicemail/email only, which it will never reply to. Even the voicemail gets filled up to the point you can't leave a message. So basically there is no way to get warranty service (even though they say it has 1 year), no customer service or product support either. I did not receive any rebates even after repeated emails and messages. And I couldn't even return the product to the merchant because I cut the UPC code for the rebate form. To its credit the device does have a nifty database of key landmarks like hotels and shopping centers you can browse through. It's use as an fancy map is passable. In a nutshell do not buy this unit if there is a rebate involved. Do not buy this unit if you expect warranty service of customer support. Do not buy this unit unless you can test it first and make sure it works before you leave the store.

Caliber P3600 has issues
Strengths: Low Price and Durable
Weaknesses: 1. Useless in large cities like NYC, San Fran. and LA.
2. Has issues locating a Sat. in confined areas.
3. Customer Service is a joke.
4. Promised $30 rebate never was delivered and C.S. was rude.
Summary: I would never buy from Caliber again and I have had to replace the Caliber unit with a Garmin unit due to the fact the system cannot find a Sat. in a large city. Save your $250 and buy from a decent company that actually responds with customer service. I took the system cross country and it was useless in large cities and the POI feature couldn't find a McDonalds for you.

Overall it's a nice one.
Strengths: reasonable price.
Weaknesses: process is a bit slow. complicated operation. poor manual.
Summary: This one is my second GPS. Compared to the first one(Garmin), it is a bit hard to operate and complicated. The process goes a bit slow when I put the destination in the machine but it is fine. But, when I should turn left or right the machine does not tell on which street or avenue I would turn, just says "left turn ahead." At the very point when I am about to turn left or right it rings the bell twice which is good, but still it is too late many times. Concerning the reasonable price, it is a nice deal.

Strengths: Decent Voice clarity. Fairly easy to use. Auto adjust for day and night made it easier to use.
Weaknesses: Does not automatically adjust for daylight savings time and no fix for the new daylight savings time. Need more volume control. No Foreign maps.
Summary: This is the first GPS I bought after looking around and seemed decent for the price. It was portable for car to car use but maps were a bit outdated. I was fairly impressed with how easy it was to use.
