Strengths: "Accurate
Weaknesses: Easily broken if the wire is pinched
Summary: The weak link of the Polder and clone units is the probe. Replacements are readily available at many sources. The cheapest I found was www.comforthouse.com at $8 each. My thermometers are about 6 years old, but I manage to ruin at least one probe a year. Take caution not to pinch the wire in a tight door or on the very hot surface of a grill for a long time.

The nice feature is that they are interchangeable with other brands and models so finding a replacement is easy.

1 Star Review$18 for a probe or $25 for a whole solution?
Strengths: You pay to keep your current thermometer.
Weaknesses: The probe alone is not worth the money if you can get a whole new thing for $7 more.
Summary: Why would you pay $18 delivered for this one probe which is as unreliable as the probe you are replacing? Especially if you can get a whole new thermometer with a new probe from Thermoworks for $25 delivered. So for a few bucks more you can have a whole new thing, probably covered by a warranty if it fails, whereas if the probe fails, I doubt you'd get very far. A full temperature kit (probe and thermometer) might be a good thing to buy at a brick and mortar store because you can walk in, drop it on the counter, and get your money back when (not if) the thing fails.
