Strengths: USB 2.0 frees up a PCI slot. Works ok with Belkin software
Weaknesses: Must disable wireless device before shutdown. Will often report that wireless router has lost its connection to the internet when it hasn't. Problems using this device with Windows XP Pro wireless uti
Summary: I purchased this device because I needed to free up a PCI slot in my desktop computer. I'm using this wireless adapter with an 802.11g wireless network. When using the Belkin wireless utility that comes with the adapter, it seems to have full functionality with an 802.11g network. If you don't disable this device before shutting down Windows XP Pro, it will sometimes stay on after shutdown. When enabling the adapter after boot up, the Belkin wireless utility will sometimes report that the wireless router has lost its internet connection. If you disable the adapter and then enable it again, this will resolve the problem. You may have to repeat this process a few times. If you choose to use Microsoft's wireless utility instead, you may have problems getting WPA security to work. If you do experience problems, don't bother contacting tech support. All the Belkin tech support group can do is read you the instructions that came with the adapter. Belkin doesn't seem to have any tier 2 tech support.

Strengths: Great signal strength, good transfer speed, easy to install, compatible with Vista
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: One of my desktop computers, although less than 50 feet from the router, has never gotten a good signal, either in strength or speed. The problem is that it's in an area that the signal has to pass through or get around a number of walls, kitchen cabinets, with metal appliances, and a built-in oven. With this adapter and the Netgear next-gen gigabit router, I am now getting 100% signal strength and, so far, up to 108 MBPS in speed. Prior to this I was getting 24-45% signal strength and 24 MBPS speed. I am thrilled with the results I am now getting with adapter.
