Strengths: Complete, accurate, slick interface, easy to use
Weaknesses: It is the most expensive tax software
Summary: Even though it is priced above the others, you get what you pay for. This year's TurboTax Home and Business installs smoothly, gathers updates automatically, and presents the user with an nice interview process for gathering the information necessary for filing the 2006 tax return. I like the interview, so that's what I use, but it also allows you to input directly into the forms if you so choose. The rebates common in previous years appear to be gone this year, although there is still a rebate available for buying Quicken with TurboTax.

Strengths: Easy "fill in the blank" format. Great for schedule C self employed or small business users.
Weaknesses: It was difficult to find out how to do 2 Schedule C's for my 2 different businesses. They could make that a lot easier by simply asking if you have more than 1 business and then guiding you thru it.
Summary: I just finished my 2006 taxes using Turbo Tax & found it very easy to use. It walked me through a fact gathering interview process & I just filled in the blanks. The only hard work was gathering up & organizing all my receipts and documentation. I am self employed so I really appreciated how the schedule C section helped me to itemize all my deductions & expenses.I feel confident that I got every legitimate deduction I could & I am expecting a tax refund this year of almost $4,000!

Strengths: Guided wizard to walk you through with some built-in help
Weaknesses: Can be less efficient for people used to using the tax forms directly, but has a tax form view
Summary: This version for home and business is capable enough to handle virtually all of your Schedule C and 1040 needs. I have used the Home and Business version for several years and have stuck to it. If you're the type that can do his or her own business taxes, then this is one of your best options. Otherwise, you may need an accountant for more complex returns, situations, or questions.

Strengths: Load of information and help
Weaknesses: If you have not used before, it takes awhile to familarize yourself with the product
Summary: I have used TurboTax for about 6 years. They keep improving this product every year. I have used 2 other tax preparation products prior to TurboTax, but this is the best.

TurboTax Home and Business
Strengths: Covers much more than TurboTax Deluxe, better than the comparable H & R Block product (which I also bought and tried.)
Weaknesses: Does not print 1099's --- which should be included in a pricey program like this. Instead, Intuit wants you to spend an additional $200 on their QuickBooks software.
Summary: More features than H & R Block --- still has items that have you referring to the IRS website for answers! My biggest complaint is the quantity of different versions of Turbo Tax, and the huge difference in them, both in content and price. With this version, despite the additional expense, Intuit wants you to spend more gain additional functionality, like being able to print 1099's.

Strengths: Easy to upgrade from the previous version used (Premier)
Very Userfriendly
Weaknesses: Could not find any
Summary: Once again another easy tax return with TurboTax. Especially as a small business owner I was worried about complications during the filing process and it was just a breeze. All information was imported from the previous version and I was done in no time. This is one awesome product.

Strengths: Easy to use
Weaknesses: No major ones I could find.
Summary: A great way to do your own taxes, especially if you have had experience with a professional tax preparer before and know what you want to deduct. If you take time to read the help files, it is about as easy as taxes can be under the vague rules of the IRS. I don’t think anyone with a lot of special deductions will want to do it this way, but for the average person with average “business deductions,” it works well.

Strengths: Easy to use. Time Savings.
Weaknesses: Price. State Forms not completed Fully. Does not Support Windows ME.
Summary: Turbo Tax is easy to use. It gives clear explanations and finds topics otherwise easily missed. Maybe the best feature is how it imports and applies information from last years return.

Strengths: Easy to follow instructions and plenty of data
Weaknesses: Not easy to save in the middle of the forms
Summary: I have been using Turbotax for the past two years and find it to be a better way to do one's taxes. Based on the retail price, it is also cheaper to do it oneself than paying for the services of a tax preparer. I strongly recommend it.

Strengths: This is a complete solution for the self employed. It has plenty of guides to help you get through all the forms. There's practically no learning curve if you've used this product in the past.
Weaknesses: Despite being self contained, you still need to have a relatively fast internet connection to get all the updates.
Summary: I like this product a lot and have been using it for many years now. Despite having issues with one of the prior versions, Intuit tries it's best to improve its product and listens to its customers. If you use quicken or quickbooks to manage your finances, turbotax can seamless integrate your information into your tax return. That saves a lot of time and reduces the amount of paper shuffling you will have to do.

Strengths: Interview. Importing data from Quicken. Ability to attach PDF files. Ability to save returns as PDF files. Improved printing.
Weaknesses: None really.
Summary: Program has steadily improved over the years, getting more stable and adding some useful features. Intuit has largely eliminated their rebates, for better or for worse. You no longer have to send in for the rebate for purchasing the state product -- the product is now included with your federal return. The help features have improved over the years, and now the help for state returns has been beefed up. The one thing to keep in mind is true for all tax returns prepared by computer -- your return is only as accurate as the data going into it. The program can only do so much in terms of protecting you from making a mistake on your return. The program does insulate you from the tax return, making it easier to prepare one, but at the expense of forcing you to learn something about the basic tax law.
